Christ Church remembers a beloved parishioner
Aishton, Thomas, - 68, of Northfield, died on February 28, 2017 after a 5 year struggle with stomach cancer. Tom lived in Ohio, Summerville SC and Northfield, NJ. He worked for 38 plus years for Battelle Memorial Institute as a research engineer having degrees in Aeronautical, Astronautical, Industrial, and Mechanical Engineering from Ohio State University. His most recent job, before retiring was in conjunction with the FAA in bomb detection. Tom was a member of many organizations including several professional engineering organizations, The Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association, Gilda's Club and Christ Episcopal Church, the latter two being where he received tremendous support for his ongoing struggle. Tom is survived by his wife of 45 years, Marilyn, his son, Barry, his sister Barbara Aishton, his niece Kate Aishton-Martin, and his grandson, Taylor Malone. Tom was preceded in death by his son, Mark who died Valentine's Day 2015. A visitation will be held on Friday, March 10th, from 6-8pm at the George H. Wimberg Funeral Home, 1707 New Rd., Linwood, and again on Saturday, March 11th from 10 -11am at the Christ Episcopal Church, 157 Shore Road, Somers Point. Services will follow at 11am. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, please donate to the American Cancer Fund, Gilda's Club of South Jersey, Christ Episcopal Church or the charity of your choice.
