Valentine's Day Care Packages

It's time to let our college-aged kids, and those serving in the military, know that Christ Church is thinking of them. It's one of the ways we love our neighbor as Jesus teaches. The Valentine's Day care packages are a little different this year, and we need your support to make it a success.

Here's how you can help:

Make a monetary donation. All donations help with the cost of shipping and purchasing food. Mail a check to Kim Rutherford at 28 Lincoln Street Dedham MA, 02026 or Venmo to @Kim-Rutherford-9
Make a donation of goodies by 2/5. We are sending store bought items this year, no home baked goods. The items should be individually packaged.(gum, candy, cookies, chips, etc) We understand if you want to skip the shopping, you can make a monetary donation and we will do the shopping for you.
Create cards. If you would like to make Valentine's Day cards contact Kim or Ginny to coordinate pick up.
Let us know if you have a family member in college or the military and we will add them to the list.
Ginny and Kim will pack up the boxes and mail them on Monday 2/8. We expect about 25 care packages this year.

Going Green for End-of-Year Giving Statements

End-of-Year giving statements were mailed last Saturday, January 30 and mailed on Monday, February 1. If you haven't received your statement, please email us.

Music Notes for February 7, 2021

From the Gospel reading for this Sunday February 7, Mark 1:32 – “That evening, at sunset, they brought to him all who were sick or possessed with demons.” A hymn text found in Wonder, Love, and Praise, #774 – “From miles around the sick ones came,” is a perfect companion to that reading.

Whereas the tune for #774 is unknown to this congregation, Charles Raines has paired the text with a familiar tune that allows us to sing it wholeheartedly. The text was written by composer and hymn writer Jane Manton Marshall (1924-2019). She was a longtime member of the Sacred Music graduate faculty at Perkins School of Theology, Southern Methodist University in Dallas, Texas.
