Pastor Andy Writes...
The King is Coming
The most important ruler in the universe has sent a message that he will be coming. Would you prepare? Would you get your house in order? Would you wait with great anticipation or cower in fear?
This would depend on your relationship with this ruler. Do you see him as a righteous judge or a loving Savior? Throughout scripture there are references to the day of judgement. This is also referred to as the day of the Lord. This is the day when the Lord Christ will return. Those who believe will be part of the heavenly kingdom. Those who do not know the Lord will be eternally damned. The is no middle ground there is not a second chance. Christ will come to judge the living and the dead.
This the theme of our worship during November. We will observe the last Sundays of the church year. The preparations we make for the second coming of Christ is to remain faithful. We stay grounded in the Word of God. We rely on the promise God gives us. We are redeemed and chosen children. We are heirs to the everlasting Kingdom. We celebrate a foretaste of the feast to come in Sunday worship as we participate in the sacrament of the altar.
We wait with joyful anticipation for the second coming of the king. We always stay ready clothed in our Baptismal glory. We look for opportunities to share the reason for the hope we have so that no one is left behind at the coming of the Lord. We look forward to the reunion with he saints who have God before. We pray come Lord Jesus. We celebrate each day as an opportunity witness and remain faithful.
Matthew 24:36–44
“But concerning that day and hour no one knows, not even the angels of heaven, nor the Son, but the Father only. For as were the days of Noah, so will be the coming of the Son of Man. For as in those days before the flood they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day when Noah entered the ark, and they were unaware until the flood came and swept them all away, so will be the coming of the Son of Man. Then two men will be in the field; one will be taken and one left. Two women will be grinding at the mill; one will be taken and one left. Therefore, stay awake, for you do not know on what day your Lord is coming. But know this, that if the master of the house had known in what part of the night the thief was coming, he would have stayed awake and would not have let his house be broken into. Therefore you also must be ready, for the Son of Man is coming at an hour you do not expect.”
