Pastor Andy Writes...

Fixing the roof,

lighting the parking lot, and planting a church

This is the season of Lent. We invest extra time in worship during this season as we contemplate the price that Christ paid to redeem us from sin, death, and the devil. Christ suffered and died for our sins to reconcile us to God. We have life, value, and purpose because we are redeemed and chosen children of God.

Along with extra Lenten services the church building needs some repair. Some of you have noticed we have a leaking roof that is causing interior damage to the sanctuary. We have turned this into insurance. The insurance company is reluctant to pay to fix the roof, saying that damage occurred before we were insured by our present company. This is a challenge. This is to inform you of what is happening with the property. If anyone has expertise in this area, you can speak with an Elder.

Since our midweek Lenten services are in the evening it is a reminder about the lack of lighting in the North parking lot. We have a member generously offer to place light in this parking lot. This will be at a minimal cost to the congregation. The member who is donating this project has asked for volunteer help. Keep your ears and eyes open for a future request for volunteers.

Weather permitting, we will once again have our Easter Sunrise service outside. This year Easter is April 5th. If the weather is nice, we will need a large crew to set up pews on April fourth. I would ask you to save this date. Because this service is weather dependent and we are in Kansas we need to keep some flexibility.

Finally, I have made announcements about the church plant in Spring Hill Kansas. This is an opportunity that presented itself for outreach in the Spring Hill community. Your prayers are coveted for this effort.

Twenty-two years ago, a core group of people planted a church in Louisburg. We have had our challenges, but we are still here. The plant in Spring Hill is starting with a clean slate and accessible property. I would ask you to support this effort with your prayers and encourage friends in Spring Hill to visit this church.

Easter Sunrise and the evening Lenten services also provide you with opportunities to invite your friends who do not have a church home to come and see. People attend churches because they are invited by a friend. We worship the Lord Jesus Christ because he gave his life for us. There is no other name by which we can be saved but the name of Jesus.
