We've all heard the cliché, "Work smarter not harder." It's good advice, but don't we groan every time someone offers it to us as though they've solved our problem with this new wisdom. Usually, when someone says that to me my first thought is, "Yes, but right now I just need to get this done." I tend to take on too much and often have seasons of being too busy. I could benefit from exercising the wisdom to take on a little less. Today, someone said something different than work smarter not harder. She said, "I can do that for you." And then she sent me an email letting me know which days she could do it. What a nice change that was. Now, some of the days I'll do it, and other days she'll take care of it. It brings to mind the story of the rebuilding of the walls in Jerusalem. The 3 rd chapter describes how the work was done.

"Then the high priest Eliashib set to work with his fellow priests and rebuilt the Sheep Gate... And the men of Jericho built next to him. And next to them Zaccur built. The Sons of Hassenaah built the Fish Gate... next to them Meremoth... next to them etc..."

The entire chapter is a list of everyone coming and working next to someone else to get the walls of the city rebuilt. In our culture, there's no shortage of things to get done. It sure is nice when someone comes along side and says let me help you with that. To whom could you say, "I can do that for you?"

Blessings,
Mike

Special Recognition
In this season of celebrating our graduates we have the special joy of celebrating the graduation of Poese Vaticani our ministry intern from seminary. Poese has completed his Masters of Divinity degree and will finish his time with us on June 23rd. His service here has been part of his ordination process and he has served this church without a salary for 9 months. He has done a marvelous job with the youth, leading classes, and occasional preaching. We would like to recognize his time at Christ UMC by sending him into his next appointment with a generous gift. If you would like to show your appreciation for Poese please put a gift in the offering plate or send it to the church and mark it "Poese Gift"

Come and Help

OUR NEXT MOBILE FOOD PANTRY
date is Thursday, May 16 from 2-5pm
We helped 297 families at the April mobile food pantry.
We can always use help from volunteers anytime between 12:30 & 6:00!
We could use extra volunteers between 5:00 to 6:00 or so on Food Drop days to help clean up, get leftover food onto the truck, and unload it at the Noland Road Community Services League cooler at Noland & Truman Rd. It goes pretty fast with extra hands helping out.
