FESTIVAL UPDATE

The Festival Committee met this past week and decided to postpone the St. Nicholas 2020 Festival till September 2021. There were many items that led us to this unfortunate decision such as competition from other local churches who are moving their festivals to the Fall, the loss of funds from local businesses that donate via our ad book & the uncertainty around the size of gatherings that will be allowed. These items along with many others are a result of the current pandemic & government mandates. The Festival Committee will instead turn their focus to other fundraising and community support/outreach.

KINDNESS CAMPAIGN

Thank you notes to frontline workers

We're starting the Kindness Campaign by sending notes and messages of gratitude to surrounding communities’ places of work with those in the front line and first responders. If interested in participating:

1. Write a note or card, adding positive messages, drawings, scripture or a saying from a favorite saint

2. If you know a parish family member who is a front line worker, personalize your message (add name and place of work)

3. Drop the messages off in a plastic bin outside the church office or email your message to the church office

4. Your messages will decorate St. Nicholas Thank You posters that will be taken to those working on the front lines, starting with some of our own parish family members

2. Grab the rest of your family (or each one has a sign) and take a photo.

We will create a St. Nicholas Parish Family slide show or photo collage to share with you and will document it as a Covid-19 Memory for our church.

GETTING TO KNOW PARISH FAMILY MEMBERS

During Stewardship Appreciation Sunday way back in January, several individuals stood up and spoke about what St. Nicholas meant to them. We continued asking this question and have received information that we will highlight regularly in this new series: Getting to Know Parish Family Members.

T his is a call to ALL who are High School and College Seniors! We need to have your names, a little write up about yourself (a recent picture, your plans for the future, going on for further education, and your involvement here at St. Nicholas) in order to have these names appear in the Weekly Bulletin. If we do not have your name and this information, you will not be able to be acknowledged as a graduate. Please take the time and give our office a call or better yet, send an e-mail with all the information we are asking!

COVID 19 has robbed many families of so much. Each one of us have been affected in some way, some more than others. And we pray every day for all of us. But today and this weekend, take a break from the day to day space this takes up in our everyday lives ...just for a day.

We may not be able to help others materially or medically, but God does hear our prayers and always asks us to pray for each other and so build up the Body of Christ (Eph. 4:11-16).

George, known to all as "Buddy," Demers on May 2

Helen Sampsonis on April 27

William Glass,* who fell asleep on April 21

*William Glass, predeceased by his wife, Christine Stathos, were founding members of St. Nicholas. The family donated the set of icons that are rotated daily as well as a protective storage case in memory of Christine after she passed away in 2011.

Please pray that our Lord will give His servants eternal rest among the saints and holy and that their families be given the comfort, strength and love during this difficult time.

May their memory be eternal!
