St. Andrew's Youth News
Christ the King...of Truth
Greeting friends!!!

This Sunday, our Gospel reading is John 18:33-37, Jesus is handed over to Pilate because the Jews want him put him to death but need Pilate to order it. Pilate goes on to question Jesus and his new title 'King of the Jews'. For millennia, even before Disney came about, being a King has come with preconceived notions, hasn't it? They're generally powerful, armed, wealthy, and willing to do just about anything to protect themselves and their beliefs even if they aren't right or just.

Take a look at verse 37, Jesus says, For this I was born, and for this I came into the world, to testify to the truth. Everyone who belongs to the truth listens to my voice.

Perhaps at no other point in time has the 'truth' become so subjective than in the past two years. Out the window have gone ideas of universal truthcommon sense and the like. We're left to decipher and piece together the truth while being bombarded by every news source, social media mogul and glorified internet expert. So if Jesus is the King of Truth, what the heck does that even mean? What channel, newspaper and instagram page do we need to tune into to get that?

I couldn't begin to tell you, but what I do know is that whatever points to love is truth, whatever breaks down boundaries is truth, whatever turns us outwards from ourselves for the sake of our neighbor is truth.

Dear friends I am praying for us to listen and discern the truth Jesus has spoken, is speaking and is showing us in our daily lives.

Sending my love to all of you.

Please let me know what I can do to help support you and your youth.
