Staying Connected
Dear Friends,

I am so thankful this Easter. At St. Stephen, we had the largest gathering of the last many years. It was a powerful witness of hope. During our Easter Vigil at CTK, the congregation prayed the Litany of the Saints as the candidates for the sacraments of initiation processed around the church, basking in the love and prayers of the community. I welcome our newly baptized and those who were fully received into the Catholic Church.
Christian Brewer is newly married to his wife Erna. They live in Pleasant Hill. Christian works as a Physical Therapy assistant. He chose the confirmation name of Francis, after St. Francis of Assisi.

Josh LaHommedieu and his wife have a beautiful 3 year old daughter, Sarah, who was baptized at the Easter Vigil with her dad. Josh grew up with no church and has loved discovering the treasures of Catholicism. Josh works as a refinery operator at Chevron.

Jaffe Leffler: Jaffe and her husband Brian are the parents of three children, two girls and a boy. She somehow missed Confirmation in high school, but she has rediscovered the meaning of faith in her life.

Chantal Levy is a cradle Catholic who missed out on Confirmation because of family moves. She is a dedicated Catholic woman who works in the medical field and lives in Pleasant Hill.

Kim Maher grew up as a Christian in another denomination but has found her home in the Catholic Church. She and her husband Vince are the proud parents of a five-year-old CTK Student, Mason.

Ana and Tesa Manto are twins who missed out on Confirmation in High School but are celebrating their Confirmation with us at CTK.

Alana Montano is the mother of two beautiful daughters who are CTK School students. In the process of preparing her daughter for First Communion, Alana decided that she needed to know more as well. She is joyful at her adoption into the Catholic family at CTK. Alana works as a private investigator.

Danielle Spangler grew up without a religious community, but an interest in spirituality. She is a licensed clinical psychologist. She and her husband started their family last year with the birth of their daughter Penelope.

Stacy York is another CTK School mom who found her way to the church through her children's sacramental preparation. The more Stacy learned, the more she wanted to know, and now she's a fully initiated Catholic. Stacy and her husband Chris have three daughters.

Jon Paynter, baptized in the Episcopalian church, was married to a devout Catholic and went to church with her for four decades before her death. While walking his daughter down the aisle at her wedding in the Catholic church, he decided to be fully received into the Church where he truly belongs.

Across the nation, around 37,000 people were welcomed into the Catholic church this year. It reminds us that it is never too late to grow and develop closer to the Lord and to the church in living a spiritual life. Pope Francis said, “Jesus entered the tomb of our sin; he descended to those depths where we feel most lost; he wove his way through the tangles of our fears, bore the weight of our burdens and from the dark abyss of death restored us to life and turned our mourning into joy.”

Parishioners and guests of both Christ the King and St. Stephen’s parishes are invited to come to the next meeting of our Pleasant Hill branch of the Italian Catholic Federation. Did you know you do not have to be Italian to join the Italian Catholic Federation? We are a Catholic organization that has celebrated faith, family, and heritage since 1924. Like Thomas, we too live great moments of courage that push us out of ourselves, but then, sometimes… we return to hide behind the closed doors of our own Upper Room. Read More
Paving Project for Parking Lots
Fellow Parishioners,

As you may know, the pavement at both Christ the King Church and St. Stephen is reaching its end of life. We need to replace this pavement for both safety and long-term useability of our facilities. Because the amount of pavement is around 190,000 square feet this replacement will be a major project. The preliminary cost estimate for this work is $1.5 million. Read More

Earth Day
Earth Day - April 22

In 1979, Pope John Paul II declared St. Francis the Patron Saint of Ecologists. In some ways, St. Francis of Assisi could be viewed as the original Earth Day advocate. Not only did he care for the poor and sick, but he preached multiple sermons on animals, and wanted all creatures on Earth, including humans, to be treated as equals under God. Some of his sermons included stories about birds, fish, and rabbits.
