Staying Connected
A Message From Sister Dominic Marie
Dear Friends,

I think it is important from time to time to offer a reminder about celebrating the sacrament of the Anointing of the Sick. This sacrament is for those who are sick or elderly, preparing for surgery, people with chronic or terminal illness. It is for anyone suffering physical, mental or emotional illnesses. It is the healing and peace of Christ that is offered to a person in this sacrament. If you have a family member or friend who would benefit from this sacrament do not hesitate to request this sacrament for them. It is so important NOT to wait to the last minute when the person is dying and cannot participate in the prayers. It is so important to request the sacrament when the sick person can hear and respond to the prayers and have family members gathered with them. To call for a priest at the last moments of life – when a dying person cannot speak or respond – is not helpful. And what if a priest is not available exactly at that moment when you call.
In November - it is our Catholic tradition – to pray specially for our deceased loved ones. At Christ the King Parish we hold a special Mass in November - to recall by name those who have died - over the previous twelve months.
Last year we had our Mass of Remembrance on a Saturday evening – outside under the tent! This year we will have our Mass of Remembrance on Sunday November 7 at 12pm inside the church. At that Mass we will pray specially for all who have died during this past year.

So if your loved one died anytime from November 1, 2020 through the present time - you may give us their name to be added to the list of names read aloud. If their funeral was at Christ the King Parish – their name will automatically be on. To add a name, please call the parish office at 925-682-2486.  Deadline is the 25th of October.)

This year’s RCIA process begins
tomorrow - September 23.

If you or someone you know isn’t Catholic, but just wants a better understanding of what the Church believes and teaches, you are invited to join us. Hopefully we’ll answer your questions and, who knows, you might decide that you want to join the Church. If you are a Baptized Catholic who has not received the Sacraments of Confirmation and/or First Holy Communion, you are also invited to join us. We are eager to support you on your faith journey.
If you are a fully initiated Catholic who would like to share your faith with others, or perhaps serve as a Baptism or Confirmation Sponsor for new candidates and catechumens, we welcome you to become a part of the RCIA Team. There’s no better way to grow in one’s faith than by sharing your faith and walking with someone who is searching for answers. Please contact us at, or call us at (925) 686-1174.

26th Sunday in Ordinary Time

It seems that, while Jesus prepared his apostles to lead and guide his faith community, others went about independently preaching his Gospel and expelling demons. Today, throughout the world, diverse Christian denominations perform courageous and generous apostolic works. Read More

I See His Blood Upon The Rose
Recently Fr. Timoney recited this poem at a weekday mass.
Many of you have requested a copy of the poem:

I See His Blood Upon The Rose
I see his blood upon the rose
And in the stars the glory of his eyes,
His body gleams amid eternal snows,
His tears fall from the skies.
I see his face in every flower;
The thunder and the singing of the birds
Are but his voice—and carven by his power
Rocks are his written words.
All pathways by his feet are worn,
His strong heart stirs the ever-beating sea,
His crown of thorns is twined with every thorn,
His cross is every tree.
