Announcements

CANADIAN CATHOLIC STUDENTS' ASSOCIATION CONFERENCE AT KING'S: Calling all Catholic post-secondary students! The Canadian Catholic Students’ Association (CCSA) is the official student-led national organization supported by the Canadian bishops. King’s students and Campus Ministry at both King’s and St. Michael’s College will host the CCSA Central Region Conference at King’s University College in London, Ontario from January 19 to 21, 2024. Dr. Leonard DeLorenzo from the University of Notre Dame is the keynote speaker and will join us to discuss WITNESS - why and how we witness to Christ. Through service and dialogue we will learn to give witness to our faith on campus and in our local communities. Post-secondary students in Ontario and Quebec are invited to join this gathering of faith, fun and fellowship. To find out details or to register, please click here. Last date to register Monday, January 15, 2024.

PARISH CHOIRS WELCOMING NEW MEMBERS: The new year is upon us and both parish choirs are welcoming new singers as we look ahead to preparing music for Lent, Holy Week, and Easter. While previous experience is helpful, it is not required – a love of singing and serving is all you need to start. Experienced instrumentalists are encouraged to join as well. The 10:00 AM Choir rehearses Wednesday evenings, while the 5:00 PM Choir rehearses Sunday afternoons. If you are interested in sharing your musical gifts with our worshipping community, please contact Janet.

WANT TO GET INVOLVED IN THE PARISH? We value the work of volunteers at our parish. It is a great way to enrich the ministry of our parish and to build community. Whether it’s volunteering for a liturgical ministry, helping with children’s program, or helping serve at a community meal, there is an opportunity that awaits you. All you need to do is to fill out this brief online form or fill out the form on the orange-coloured paper found at the back of The Chapel at Windermere On the Mount. Better yet, you can always chat with any of the Campus Ministry team members.

Outreach and Justice

ST. JOE’S CAFÉ has expanded their schedule to help meet the demands of the growing food insecure community in London. The King’s community will be sending 10 people on a number of Saturdays from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM. If you are able to volunteer one or more Saturdays over the next couple of months please sign up at here and just follow the instructions on the page. It only takes a few seconds to do. To drop off baked goods or sign up to play music please email annette.donovan@kings.uwo.ca.

Veritas Series

VERITAS SERIES FOR FAITH AND CULTURE: King’s University College invites all to a panel discussion on Decolonizing the Church on January 25, 2024 at 7 pm in the Kenny Theatre. In honour of the week of Prayer for Christian Unity, three guest speakers from different traditions will share their perspectives. Dominican Friar Gustave Ineza, (PhD candidate, Regis-St. Michael’s College, TST) will discuss “Decolonization of Christianity in Africa: The dangers of a half-baked decolonization.” Rev. Dr. HyeRan Kim-Cragg (Principal and Professor, Emmanuel College, TST) will focus on “Decolonizing the Church: a United Church of Canada’s perspective.” Finally, Dr. Néstor Medina (associate Professor, Emmanuel College, TST) will ask “Can the Church be decolonized: practical and theological implications.” More details regarding this lecture are available here

Your Support is Appreciated

GIVING OF OURSELVES: Community becomes a reality when we give ourselves to it. Sometimes that means stepping up to try on a new ministry or reaching out to someone in need. Sometimes it’s just about showing up and participating fully, consciously, and actively as we worship together. Sometimes it means supporting through financial gifts. As a community of disciples, we welcome, we walk together, and we nourish body, mind, and spirit.  Our programming and our outreach depends on your generosity.

Please consider making a financial contribution online. Click here to set up your donation. All gifts directly support the work of Campus Ministry, are gratefully acknowledged, and tax receipts will be provided. If you require assistance, please contact Lisa Caeiro.
