Best Selling Christian Author LYSA TERKEURST Celebrates Second Marriage after 'Painful' Divorce

Best-selling author and Proverbs 31 Ministries founder Lysa TerKeurst not only has five books on the Christian Booksellers' Top 40 with $5 ("Forgiving What You Can't Forget.)," #8 (You're Going To Make It"), #29 ("Good Boundaries and Goodbyes"), #35 ("30 Days With Jesus Bible Study Guide"), and #38 ("Embraced,"). But, Lysa has announced that she has remarried two years after her divorce from her husband, Art TerKeurst, after 29 years of marriage.

“I want to invite you in to share a new chapter in my life,” TerKeurst captioned in a post on Instagram on Thursday.

According to The Christian Post, the post included several photos from her wedding to her new husband, Chaz.

“In January of 2023, I met Chaz. And as the pages kept turning last year, we knew what we’d found in each other was love. A beautiful love that requires work like love always does. But a togetherness that is safe, honest, fun, funny and surrendered to the sacred way God tells us to love and care for each other.”

“We got engaged last fall, which I decided to hold private so I could tell as many people as possible face to face. I got to tell many of you when we saw in each other at stores and airports and coffee shops and dinners and FaceTimes. Those were sweet conversations I treasure."

“And then last week, surrounded by our family and some beautiful mountains, Chaz and I exchanged our vows. As soon as we were announced husband and wife, some fun music started playing. I invited our kids and grandkids to join in as we all danced in the gently falling snow.”

In January 2022, Terkeurst announced she had filed for divorce from Art in 2021 due to infidelity. While she initially wanted to divorce her husband in 2017 because of infidelity and addiction, the couple renewed their vows a year later after restoring their marriage.

TARA-LEIGH COBBLE, Dallas podcaster behind 'The Bible Recap,' shares her journey to the top of the charts

A Dallas woman's passion for the Bible has landed her the top spot on the Apple Podcast charts.

Tara-Leigh Cobble's podcast "The Bible Recap" has more than 300 million downloads. Of course, she also happens to be a best selling Christian author with her latest book, "The Bible Recap: A One-Year Guide to Reading and Understanding the Entire Bible," checking in at #14 on this month's Christian Booksellers' Top 50 list.

Cobble says she made a discovery when talking to her friend about reading The Bible.

"That was the first time that I realized that it's a daily process of answering the questions," she said.

So she started a podcast. Cobble began "The Bible Recap" in 2019 with a very simple goal.

"My prayer when I started this 5 years ago was that 300 people would read the Bible with me. So this has blown all my hopes and dreams out of the water," she said.

The next morning, she was floored to open her email and see 300 messages from people in the U.S. and around the world.

Tune In To Gospel Live! Presented By Henry Louis Gates, Jr. on PBS

Grab a front-row seat for "GOSPEL Live!" Presented by "Finding Your Roots" host Henry Louis Gates, Jr. on February 9 at 9/8c on PBS. It is a concert celebration honoring the legacy of Gospel music in America. This special is a one-of-a-kind musical celebration that honors the legacy and influence of Gospel music in America. Contemporary secular artists and renowned gospel singers perform their favorite gospel classics. The event co-hosted by Gates and Erica Campbell, and featuring John Legend, is a companion program to the four-hour PBS documentary series, "Gospel."

The program includes performances by Tauren Wells, Lena Byrd Miles, Mali Music, and Shelea.

"Gospel Live!" premieres on February 9 at 9:00 p.m. on PBS with multiple airings to follow including February 11, 16, and 18.

From the blues to hip hop, African Americans have been the driving force of sonic innovation for over a century. Musical styles come and go, but there's one sound that has been a constant source of strength, courage and wisdom on any given Sunday.

"Gospel," the latest history series from Henry Louis Gates, Jr., digs deep into the origin story of Black spirituality through sermon and song.

Four Episode subjects include: "The Gospel Train" (the sonic influences of blues and jazz), "The Golden Age Of Gospel" (from the Lord’s music to the mainstream), "Take The Message Everywhere" (gospel goes mainstream, taking the good news everywhere), and "Gospel's Second Century" (gospel and preaching achieve platinum-selling success).

"Gospel" premieres February 12 & 13 at 9:00 p.m. on PBS with multiple additional airings throughout the month.

"Gospel" is more than the soundtrack of the African American experience, “it’s the beating heart and soul,” Gates said. “From the Great Migration to today, the history of Black gospel music and preaching is one of constant movement, and it’s long been a dream of mine to bring it to public television.”

Inviting God into Your Dating Relationship

By Jim Daly,

President of Focus on the Family

In order to stand at a wedding altar and say, “I do” with confidence, couples must first understand who they are as individuals. Only a person with a healthy sense of “I” can give to the marriage as much as he or she receives.

A thriving marriage doesn’t erase individuality. It celebrates it. It puts one’s individuality to work in service of the relationship, molding two people into one while encouraging each person’s individual flames to burn bright.

Debra Fileta, an author and a licensed professional counselor who specializes in dating, marriage, and relationship issues, reminds her clients that each of us is on our own journey with God, a journey that intertwines our lives with others while we individually run “the race that is set before us” (Hebrews 12:1).

Debra is with us on our Focus on the Family Broadcast “Inviting God into Your Dating Relationship” to help Christian young adults recognize what’s important in dating relationships and develop healthy dating standards that are rooted in biblical principles.

45 Cheap Date Ideas You'll Actually Want to Go On

Is inflation taking a bite out of your date night budget? When run-of-the-mill date nights with dinner and a movie can set you back $100 (not including the babysitter), it can be tough to fit regular date nights into the budget. But don’t worry, because there are plenty of ways to spend a fun and romantic date night together in a budget-friendly way. Here are 45 cheap date ideas to try out, and some are even totally free!

11 Cheap Date Ideas to Get Started

Cheap doesn’t have to equal boring. If anything, it means you get to be a little more creative with planning the date. Plus, you get to think up exciting, out-of-the-box ideas and put in that extra effort. Here are 11 cheap date ideas to try out any day of the week.

Browse at a bookstore. If you and your date both find books you want to read, put them on hold for pickup at your local library (and read them for free!).

Listen to your throwback records, vintage tapes or mix CDs. Pick the albums that were special to you while you were dating. Or if you’re currently dating, share the music that was important to each of you earlier in life.

Go out to breakfast. It’s the most important meal of the day, and it’s a cheaper date than going out to dinner. There’s no rule out there saying you can’t have a date in the morning. So go ahead! Plus, who doesn’t love bacon, eggs and pancakes?
