Bethel Music's

JOSH BALDWIN,

A worship leader, artist, and songwriter, Talks About His Hit Song, "Made For More" and Leading Worship In Your Local Church

Josh Baldwin joined Bethel Music in 2014 and is most known for “Praises (Be Lifted Up),” “You Deserve It All,” and “Stand in Your Love,” which reached No. 2 on the Christian Billboard charts. His newest album, "Made For More," marks his second live recorded worship album. The title track is currently up to #6 on Billboard's CCM charts.

Josh has appeared on numerous Bethel Music albums including Victory (2019), Peace (2020), Homecoming (2021), and on Come Up Here (2023) with his song “Time and Time Again.”

In a recent heartwarming conversation between Joshua Swanson, Editor-in-Chief of Worship Leader Magazine, and Josh, the essence of worship and its transformative power was profoundly explored. The dialogue not only shed light on Baldwin’s journey but also underscored the intrinsic value of serving in the local church. This article delves into the key takeaways from their discussion, offering insights into the significance of community, the challenges of spiritual warfare, and the inspirational power of worship music.

Josh'’s reflections on the differences between leading worship in a local church and being on the road highlighted a deep appreciation for community worship. He described the experience as “refreshing” and emphasized how serving in the local church, whether through leading worship or setting up chairs, roots him in his faith. Baldwin shared his journey from growing up in a pastor’s home to leading worship across various churches, culminating in his current involvement in the church in Tennessee. This transition period, marked by finding a new church home, brought a new perspective on the importance of local church engagement.

Swanson' intriguing question about viewing each song as a book on a bookshelf led Baldwin to reflect on the profound impact of the title track. He shared touching anecdotes about how the song “Made for More” resonated with his family, particularly his son, who found solace and strength in its lyrics. This personal connection to his music underscores the powerful role worship songs play in nurturing faith and providing comfort.

Working For Me:

TAMELA MANN

Breaks Billboard Chart Record After Release of New Single

Tamela Mann has added another win to her storied career. The Grammy Award-winning vocal powerhouse now has the most no. 1 singles on the Radio Gospel Airplay Billboard chart.

Her latest release, “Working for Me,” earned the top spot on the Radio Gospel Airplay chart, making it her 11th no. 1 hit, more than any other gospel artist in Billboard history. Mann spoke about the milestone in a statement. Its there for the third straight week.

“I’m beyond grateful to my fans, my team, and to God for this honor,” she said. “This journey has been incredible, and I’m so excited to share even more music with the world.”

“Working For Me” has country overtones. The accompanying music video even features cowboy boots and banjos with the countryside as a backdrop. The track comes after she appeared on “Mysterious Ways” with MORDA on “The Color Purple” soundtrack back in 2023. Before that record, Mann released songs like “Superheroes Prayer” and “He Did It For Me.”

“Working For Me” is the lead single from Mann’s sixth solo studio album, “Live Breathe Fight.” The album features Mann’s signature blend of powerful vocals and moving messages to uplift and empower listeners.

Just a few weeks back, Mann released the album’s second single, “Hand On Me.”

The gift and the glory:

Malaki Starks’ journey to stardom with Georgia football

They slept in hotels. Some nights it was an aunt’s living room, other nights an uncle’s couch. The Starks family of four — mom, dad, daughter and son, Malaki — found shelter wherever they could, depending on the kindness of family and friends or finding the money when they could.

Many years later, Malaki Starks will say that one of the causes closest to his heart is homelessness because he knows what it was like. Between his third- and sixth-grade years, the family experienced it in and around their hometown of Jefferson, Ga., but mom and dad kept working, and things got better.

“My parents just worked. If we didn’t have anything, if we had anything, they just worked,” Starks said. “And they got the opportunity to start working and earn some really good money, good enough to where we could get out of the situation we were in.”

His father is now the manager at a chicken plant. His mother stays at home. And Starks can use the money he gets as a college football player to send to his family, while he’s on track to make a lot more next year after the NFL Draft, where he’s likely to be one of the first safeties taken, almost certainly as a first-round pick if he chooses to go pro.

“The biggest thing is when I was a kid, people poured so much into me,” Starks said. “Like my parents, my older cousins. People I saw at the highest level. For me, the highest level was high school. They came back and spent time with me. My mom always told me that God gave me a gift, and it would be a shame an a sin not to use it and not to give back.”

His mother, Tisha, first told him that in middle school. God gives everyone a gift, Tisha told her son, whatever it may be. Starks’ gift is to play football, and he can use that to impact lives.

entered the Christian Booksellers'

Priscilla Shirer, renowned author, speaker, and actress, recently sat down with Juandolyn Stokes on On Point with Juandolyn Stokes to discuss her new book, "I Surrender All," and her movie, "The Forge." In a captivating conversation focusing on themes of faith, surrender, and purpose, Shirer shared profound insights that left listeners inspired and uplifted.

"I Surrender All" is Shirer's latest literary offering, a poignant exploration of the power of surrendering to God and trusting in His plan. Throughout the discussion, Priscilla emphasized the importance of relinquishing control and allowing God to work in our lives, even when we may not understand His ways. Shirer stated “You have to be willing to surrender”.

“You trust that the same God who sustained you on the mountain is going to sustain you in the valley” as Juandolyn posed questions about faith, prayer, and balance in life.

Listen ‘These the best questions I’ve been asked all day” said an excited Shirer as the conversation shifted to Prioritizing God, Mentorship and Discipleship “Discipleship come at a cost”.

In addition to her book, Shirer also provided a sneak peek into her upcoming movie, "The Forge," a compelling drama that promises to challenge viewers to reflect on their faith and purpose. Playing ,a single mother, a pivotal role in the movie, Shirer stated about her character "She recognizes that no matter how good of a mother she is she cannot hand him his Manhood a man is going to have to do that”. Through her role in the film, Shirer hopes to spark meaningful conversations and encourage audiences to deepen their spiritual journey.

(Christian Author Jen Wilkin's

Bible Study, "Revelation"

rose up 18 spots to #7 on this month's Christian Booksellers' Top 50 list).

When I was 10 years old, I attended a screening of a movie called A Thief in the Night. It offered a vivid depiction of end-time events, images that would terrorize me well into young adulthood and leave me paralyzed to read the book of Revelation. One of the scenes that caused me the greatest anxiety involved the tattooing of a barcode on the forehead of one of the main characters. I used to lie in bed at night, repeating to myself, “Whatever you do, don’t get the tattoo.”

Because I was too afraid to read Revelation, it was years before I learned it holds multiple scenes in which people receive marks, and not all of them are terrifying. Some are extremely reassuring.

Marked with a Name

True, in Revelation 13:16–17 we learn that the beast “causes all, both small and great, both rich and poor, both free and slave, to be marked on the right hand or the forehead . . . the name of the beast or the number of its name.” And true, it’s this mark that identifies those who’ll suffer God’s wrath at the great white throne judgment (20:11).

But this mark is mentioned only after we’ve first seen the faithful saints marked with a seal on their foreheads (see 7:1–8). In 14:1, we learn this seal is the name of the Lamb and the Father. In Revelation, the unrighteous are marked with the name of the beast and the righteous are marked with the names of the Lord.

We intuitively understand the everyday significance of this kind of mark. Recently, I was cleaning out our attic and came across a cassette player my husband had kept since college. I knew before I turned it upside down what I’d find underneath: his full name etched with an engraving tool. When we first got married, I quickly learned his family had a comprehensive practice of labeling everything from electronics to beach towels to Tupperware with their names to ensure the items could be returned to their proper owner. Everything he brought with him to our first home was labeled.

Revelation’s depictions of labeled people show us that God knows exactly who belongs to him and who doesn’t. But it does more than that.

How to Guard Your Marriage from Temptation

By Jim Daly,

President of Focus on the Family

Jerry Jenkins shares about the ways he safeguards his marriage and preserves his connection with his wife. Hear about his “Hedges,” or rules to avoid falling into temptation, and how to build your own.

John Fuller: Jerry Jenkins joins us today on Focus on the Family with Jim Daly to talk about helpful guidelines for protecting and preserving your marriage.

Jim Daly: John, we’re called to honor our spouses with the way we act and speak, whether they’re present or not. How ’bout that? I have worked on that. I think Jean would agree, I do much better at that today than maybe in my twenties and thirties.

But we are going to talk primarily to men today, about boundaries that can be helpful for all of us, not just men but women, too. And, we want to give you some practical tools to build trust and respect into your marriage. And, if you’re struggling in your marriage, we’re here for you. We have so many great resources, programs, Hope Restored, Christian counseling. We’re doing everything we can ’cause we believe that if we can save a marriage, keep a marriage healthy, good things happen.

First of all, just the way the Lord has used you in your writing and "Left Behind," and it’s exciting. You have really contributed to the fabric of the country and the world through what God has inspired you to write. How did you become such a great writer (laughs)?

Jerry: Well, I feel blessed. And, I don’t want to sound falsely modest, but, I really think I’m mono-gifted. I don’t sing, dance or preach. I just write, and I feel obligated to exercise that gift. My mother taught me to read before kindergarten, which made me kind of an obnoxious elementary school student (laughs). A joke in our family is that, by first grade, I was reading at a fourth grade level.
