JEREMY CAMP

Talks About #1 CCM Song, "No Survivors"

(Jeremy Camp's single, "No Survivors," from his "Deeper Waters" album,

is holding steady at #1

for the second straight week

on Billboard's CCM charts)

By Jeremy Camp

<<This is my story behind the song "No Survivors." It all started when Isaiah 48:10 hit me in a way it never had before. "See, I have refined you, though not as silver; I have tested you in the furnace of affliction."

<<When I read that, I realized God wasn’t just talking about hard times. He was talking about a fire that burns away everything that doesn’t belong — my pride, my ego, my need to be in control. I had to be honest. There were parts of me I wanted to keep alive — little pockets of selfishness, old habits, attitudes I thought I could manage.

<<But God doesn’t come for partial surrender. I felt Him say, "Jeremy, when I refine you, I’m not leaving survivors. I’m not leaving anything that competes with Me in your heart.”

<<That’s where the title came from. “No Survivors" wasn’t me trying to sound intense or dramatic. It was me confessing that I still try to hold onto pieces of my old self and God saying, "No, son. I love you too much to let those live.”

<<There was a season when I felt like everything was being stripped away — plans, comfort, the picture I had of my own future. I remember praying, "God, why does this hurt so much?" And I sensed Him whisper, "Because I’m refining you. This isn’t punishment; it’s preparation.”

<<I thought refinement would feel gentle. But, Isaiah 48:10 doesn’t say "bubble bath of affliction." It says "furnace." This is real heat. This is where the dross comes to the surface and God says, "Let Me skim that off.”

<<There were nights I just said, "God, I’m tired of this war inside of me. Tired of my flesh fighting what You’re trying to do." And it was like He answered, "Then let’s leave no survivors. Let’s burn it down — your ego, your fear, your need to control.”

<<That’s what this song is. “No Survivors" is me standing in the fire and saying, "Okay, God. Don’t just turn the heat down. Turn it up until everything that isn’t You is gone.”

<<I know I’m not the only one who wakes up some days still fighting old battles. But this song is my reminder: I don’t have to fight in my own strength. I just have to keep stepping into the refining fire with Him. If you feel like you’re in that furnace of affliction, you’re not being abandoned—you’re being refined. And when God is done, there are going to be no survivors of what was trying to destroy you. Only what He’s been shaping all along.

<<That’s my story behind "No Survivors.” It’s not about me being strong. It’s about letting God be thorough. If He’s going to refine me, I don’t want anything left standing that doesn’t look like Him.

2026 Christian and Gospel GRAMMY Winners

<< Gospel and Christian music were once again not visible on the Grammy Award telecast Sunday night. But, artists including CeCe Winans, Kirk Franklin, Tasha Cobbs Leonard, Brandon Lake, Israel & New Breed, and The Brooklyn Tabernacle Choir were honored with awards before the broadcast.

<< The only mention of God during the show was by Jelly Roll. In his acceptance speech, Jelly Roll was seen carrying a hand-sized Bible and said, "I remember there was a moment in my life, and all I had was a Bible this big and a radio the same size and a 6 by 8 foot cell, and I believed that those two things could change my life. I believed that music had the power to change my life, and God had the power to change my life."

<< He continued, "And I want to tell y'all right now, Jesus is for everybody. Jesus is not known by one political party; Jesus is not owned by any label. Jesus is Jesus, and anybody can have a relationship with him. I love you, lord."

<< Social media heavily criticized him for "ramming religion down our throats," even though no one mentioned the constant political denouncements of ICE throughout from virtually every recipient.

<< “I’ve gotten countless messages of how this song has literally saved people’s lives and pointed them to Jesus,” Brandon Lake said when accepting the award. “If it wasn’t for Jesus, I don’t know where I would be, y’all. Most important thing I could say is this world is Cray Cray right now, but I was reminded of the scripture this morning, John 16:33.

<< I have told you these things so that in me, you may have peace. In this world, you will have trouble. But take heart, I have overcome the world. He’s overcome, so that means we can too through Christ. Love you. Thank you so much.”

<< Accepting the “Best Roots Gospel Album” for The Brooklyn Tabernacle Choir, featured vocalist TaRanda Greene said, ““Carol Cymbala could not be here tonight, but on behalf of her and the entire choir and everyone involved, we are so grateful to write songs, record songs, and get music out there that we pray will encourage you and will bring Hope to the world, in the name of Jesus.”

DONNIE MCCLURKIN

"Better Afterwhile"

(Donnie McClurkin's single,

"Better Afterwhile" is at #1 on Billboard's Gospel Music charts

for the second consecutive week)

<<Donnie McClurkin stood just offstage, listening as the last notes of his new song faded and the crowd erupted. When they told me ‘Better Afterwhile’ hit number one,” he said later, shaking his head slowly, “I just whispered, ‘God, You did it again.’”

<<He sat down for the interview still wearing his stage clothes, mic pack clipped to his belt. “Every lyric in ‘Better Afterwhile’ comes from a place of faith tested and hope restored,” he explained. “This isn’t just a song to me; it’s a testimony that what you’re going through is not the end of the story.”

<<He was asked where the song came from. “We’ve been through hard times before,” Donnie replied. “I’ve seen struggle in my own life, in my family, in the church, in the world. And every time, God has proven that He’s still in control. So I wanted to write something that says, ‘It’s rough right now, but it’s gonna get better after a while.’”

<<He leaned forward, hands clasped. “I was thinking about the people who cry themselves to sleep at night...those who say, ‘Lord, I don’t see a way out.’ And I wanted the song to be God’s reminder: 'You might not see it yet, but I’m already working it out for your good.’”

<<Donnie smiled as he remembered the first time he sang it live. “The people started singing along before the song was even over,” he recalled. “And I thought, ‘They’re not just singing notes; they’re singing their story.’ That’s when I knew this wasn’t just music. This was medicine.”

<<"Storms don’t last forever,” Donnie said simply. “They shape us, they strengthen us, they push us closer to God’s promise. ‘Better Afterwhile’ is my reminder that you don’t give up in the middle just because you can’t see the end yet.”

<<He laughed softly when the conversation turned to the song’s chart success. “Seeing ‘Better Afterwhile’ reach number one leaves me humbled and grateful,” he admitted. “The song says, ‘You brought me through this...through that, Lord, I’m grateful to You.’ When I look back over my life, I can honestly say, He really did bring me through it all.”

<<Donnie’s tone grew more serious as he spoke to the camera directly, as if addressing someone’s private pain. “Hold on through the waiting,” he urged. “Trust Him through the tears. Joy is coming. It’s gonna get better after awhile. You might feel like you’re stuck in the middle of the night season, but morning is already on God’s calendar.”

<<He paused, then added quietly, “I wrote this song to tell you: what you’re facing right now is not your final chapter. God has more to say about your life. So as long as you’ve got breath, keep believing, keep worshipping, and keep reminding yourself—‘It’s gonna get better after while.’”

Interview
"Trusting God

With Every Breath"

(Amy Mecham's "Trusting God With Every Breath: Find Hope for the Ups and Downs of Life," entered

the current Christian Booksellers'

Top 50 List at #10)

<<Amy sat across from me in the small church café, fingers curled around a paper cup, eyes clear but soft.

<<“I call it ‘Trusting God with Every Breath,’” she began, “because that’s literally what it felt like—like I had to trust Him for the next inhale, not just the next day.”

<<I asked her when that story really started.

<<She thought for a moment, then nodded slowly. “It started in a hospital room,” she said. “I went in thinking it was just going to be a quick check, and the next thing I knew, doctors were saying words like ‘critical’ and ‘we don’t know yet.’”

<<Her voice didn’t waver, but she clasped her hands tightly. “I remember staring at the ceiling tiles,” Amy said, “and whispering, ‘God, if I can’t control anything else, I give You this breath. This one. And the next one. And the next.’”

<<She paused, then smiled faintly. “I’d always said I trusted God,” she admitted, “but that was the first time I realized trusting God wasn’t about my plans working out. It was about saying, ‘Even if they don’t, You are still good.’”

<<I asked her if she ever felt angry or afraid. “Absolutely,” she answered quickly. “I wasn’t some spiritual superhero lying there praising God with a big smile. I was scared.”

<<She looked down at her hands. “I remember praying, ‘Lord, I believe… but You’re gonna have to help my unbelief today.’ And He did. Not by magically erasing the fear, but by meeting me inside of it.”

<<Amy described nights when the machines were the only sound in the room. “There was this one night,” she recalled, “when my chest felt so tight I could barely breathe, and I just whispered, ‘Jesus.’ That’s all I could say.”

<< She took a slow breath, demonstrating. “And I sensed Him say back to me, not out loud, but deep in my heart, ‘I’m here. I’m in this breath with you.’ That changed everything. I stopped looking for Him in the outcome and started looking for Him in the moment.”

Tax Season 2026:
What You Need to Know

<<Well. It’s about that time of the year again—tax season. Groan. From standard deductions and adjusted tax brackets to figuring out which tax credits and deductions you qualify for, it can be a lot to figure out everything you need to know to file your taxes.

<<Don’t worry, we’re going to dive into all of that, plus a few more changes you need to be aware of. First, let’s kick things off with the main details you need to know for the 2026 tax season:

<<Tax filing deadline: All tax returns must be filed by April 15, 2026. If you owe any taxes for tax year 2025, those also must be paid by this date.

<<Extension deadline: If you request a tax filing extension, then your new tax filing deadline is October 15, 2026. However, if you owe taxes for tax year 2025, that payment is still due on April 15 regardless of the extension to file.

<<Standard deduction increase: For tax year 2025, the standard deduction is $15,750 for single filers and $31,500 for married couples filing jointly.

<<Tax brackets adjusted for inflation: Income tax brackets went up in 2025 to account for inflation. The tax rates all stay the same, with the lowest rate standing at 10% and the highest rate remaining at 37%.

<<But that’s just scratching the surface! For starters, the One Big Beautiful Bill Act (OBBBA) made many of the temporary tax cuts from the 2017 Tax Cuts and Jobs Act permanent. But that’s not all: The new law also included several tax changes that might affect your tax bill this year.

How to Build a Strong and Enduring Family Legacy

By Jim Daly,

President of Focus on the Family

<<David Green: You know, we bring all of our co-managers at Hobby Lobby together and we talk to them. I only spend a few minutes with them, but there’s something I wanna tell all of them.

And that is, your job is the least important thing you got going.

<<John Fuller: What insights from David Green, a much-needed reminder of what truly matters in life. And as the founder of Hobby Lobby, he’s discovered the meaning of building a generational legacy, not through material success so much, but through faith. And he joins us today with his friend and co-author, Bill High.

<<Jim Daly: You know how many people love Hobby Lobby? But, the bigger part that I admire about the Green family, about Hobby Lobby, is stepping up in the culture and really being present and not dividing their faith from their business. It’s very integrated. I admire that and respect that. Other companies that do that as well, and it’s such a beautiful model for the rest of us to engage the culture with our faith, not without it.

<<Bill High is an author, lawyer, and speaker, and he has a consulting company that helps families think about these things to build a generational legacy. David and Bill’s book is called "The Legacy Life: Leading Your Family to Make a Difference for Eternity." Now, let me ask you, you start talking about legacy. There’s usually a mom somewhere in the background (laughs).

<<David: Raising kids and grandkids and great grandkids. And I really think about what my mom said really has a lot to do with our legacy. “Hey, mom, I’m one of the youngest managers, and I’ve got a store." She said, "David, what are you doing for the Lord?” When you really think about that, that’s what we have to ask all of ourselves. We have to ask ourselves and our kids. And if they know that that question’s there, maybe that’s one of the best things you can do in raising children is, “I don’t care if you’re president of the United States, David, I don’t care. What are you doing for the Lord?”

<<Because I knew who she was and how they lived their life and their prayer life, walking with the Lord, it didn’t bother me. Because of the way I was raised, I knew who she was. I knew that she was right, and I needed to do something besides be a supervisor of a bunch of TG&Y stores.

<<Jim: Well, you mentioned in the book, how short-term thinking can be so destructive to our culture today. And you are a long-term planner. You talked about legacy and what is this all about and the planning component to this. Why do we think so short term as human beings?

<<Bill: That’s a big part of the book. We’re trying to reset what I would say is the theology of family, which is this short-term mindset. You raise your kids up in a nest, and then at 18, you kick ’em out and say, “Go off and do your thing.” That’s not God’s design. God’s design is that the family was really meant to be a team, and that team was meant to expand and grow. This is the original blessing to Abraham, land, people, and blessing. Through that one family, I’m gonna bless the whole earth.
