CCM Spotlight: Hope Darst’s Journey of Faith & Album ‘In the Mighty Name’

(Hope Darst's single, "The Mighty Name of Jesus," featuring Josh Baldwin from her new album, "In The Mighty Name" is up to #5 this week on Billboard's CCM charts)

<<Hope Darst’s journey is one marked by surrender, faith, and an unwavering belief in God’s perfect timing. Her latest album, "In the Mighty Name," is more than just a collection of worship songs—it’s a testament to her years of trusting in God’s plan and stepping into obedience. With the release of her single, “Mighty Name of Jesus,” Darst continues to deliver music that not only uplifts but anchors believers in the unshakable truth of Christ.

<<Hope’s path to becoming a recording artist wasn’t a straight line. At 19, she had a life-altering encounter with God that shifted her entire perspective. “I was running from the Lord, saved but not surrendered,” she recalls. “But then I had that moment where I was arrested by the Spirit, and I knew—I had to give my whole life to Jesus.”

<<From there, she moved to Nashville, not with a music career in mind, but simply to follow God’s leading. “I thought I’d just sing in a restaurant bathroom, someone would hear me, and I’d get a record deal,” she laughs. “I had no idea how the industry worked.” She spent years serving faithfully in her local church, eventually becoming a worship leader and a songwriter for The Belonging Co.

<<Unlike her first two albums, which balanced artistry with worship, Hope’s latest project is a full-fledged live worship album—something she knew was the right direction. “I kept praying, ‘God, I don’t want to just make another record. What are You asking me to do?’ I kept hearing, ‘Go back to the beginning. Do this the way I created you to do it.’”

<<Darst and her husband made a decision: “We’re going to make this album as an offering to the Lord, regardless of what success looks like.” The result is an album that she describes as the most honest representation of who she is. “If albums are like children, this one looks the most like me.”

RUDY CURRENCE

"God, Don't Cancel Me"

(Rudy Currence's single, "God, Don't Cancel Me" is up 4 spots this week to #7 on Billboard's Gospel Music charts)

<<Gospel artist Rudy Currence is a Grammy and Dove Award winning producer, Grammy nominated writer, two-time #1 Billboard recording artist, and 2024 Stellar Award Nominee. His hits include "Testimony." the #1 "I Belong Here," "No Greater Love," also #1, and "Ransom."

<<Currence shared the story behind his inspiring single “God Don’t Cancel Me,” a song that blends timeless gospel roots with a message fit for today’s culture.

<<“‘God Don’t Cancel Me’ came straight from my heart,” Rudy said. “We live in a world quick to judge, to cancel, to shame—but God’s love doesn’t work like that. He knows our flaws, our mistakes, and still chooses grace.”

<<The Grammy® and Dove Award–winning singer-songwriter is no stranger to balancing faith and creativity. Rudy reflected on how the song’s message came to him during a personal season of reflection. “There was a point where I was hard on myself for things I didn’t get right,” he said. “But God reminded me—I was never disqualified. That’s when I realized this had to be a song. Somebody else needed to hear that same reminder.”

<<So many people are walking around feeling like they’ve messed up too much, that there’s no coming back. This song preaches redemption in a way everyone can relate to.

<<When asked what he hopes listeners take away from the song, Currence didn’t hesitate. “I want people to know God’s grace is undefeated,” he said. “We can cancel shows, cancel plans, cancel each other—but God never cancels His purpose for our lives.”

<<Rudy teased that more music is on the way and that “God Don’t Cancel Me” is part of a larger creative vision. “We’re just getting started,” he said with a smile. “This song sets the tone for everything else I want to release—music that heals, uplifts, and tells the truth.”

Dave Ramsey, AARP raise red flag on Medicare; changes coming soon

<<The Annual Enrollment Period (AEP) for Medicare, which runs from Oct. 15 to Dec. 7, is the designated time for individuals already enrolled in Medicare to review their coverage.

<<During this window, beneficiaries can make changes to their existing plan or switch to a different one.

<<Dave Ramsey has a warning for Americans: This is not the time to sign up for Medicare for the first time. Instead, he explains that people should use the AEP to evaluate whether their current plan still meets their health and financial needs, especially since coverage details and costs can change from year to year.

<<Medicare first-time enrollment should occur when people turn 65 during their initial Enrollment Period or any year after that during a General Enrollment Period that runs from Jan. 1 to March 31.

<<Ramsey points out an important way Medicare is different from regular health insurance.

<<"Unlike regular health insurance, Medicare doesn’t have plans for couples or families. It only covers individuals in what are called 'parts.' Then a Medicare supplement. Each part is like a little mini plan that helps cover a different aspect of health care."

JONATHAN CAHN'S

"The Avatar": Uncovering the Spiritual Realm

(Jonathan Cahn's "The Avatar: The Return of the Ancients & the Future of America" entered October's Christian Booksellers' Top 50 List at #1)

<<Jonathan Cahn’s latest appearance on TBN’s Praise program delved deep into the mysteries behind his explosive new book, "The Avatar: Uncovering the Spiritual Realm," a work he describes as his most revealing yet. Speaking with hosts Matt and Laurie Crouch, Cahn unveiled themes of spiritual warfare, prophetic patterns, and America’s role in a cosmic battle between light and darkness.

<<Unveiling the Unseen - “'The Avatar' is going to open a whole realm of what’s happening behind the scenes — the seen and the unseen,” Cahn explained. “There is a natural realm and a spiritual realm. What we see on the surface in politics, in culture, even in movements, often has roots in the invisible world that Scripture has already described”.

<<As he introduced the concept, Cahn emphasized that his message is not speculative fiction but grounded in biblical discernment. “We’re talking about the forces that were once worshiped as gods returning to our culture under new names,” he said. “Ancient spirits influencing nations didn’t vanish — they’ve adapted”.

<<Echoes of Ancient Israel - Cahn drew striking parallels between ancient Israel and present-day America. “In the ancient world, if the spirits ruled the king, they ruled the kingdom,” he said. “When a nation turns from God, it opens itself to those same principalities. That’s what we’re seeing now — a turning from light to darkness, from God to idols”.

<<He warned that America’s decline in spiritual foundations bears resemblance to the fall of civilizations that once knew divine truth. “We were founded to be one nation under God,” Cahn continued. “But when you take God out, something else rushes in. The vacuum never stays empty”.

<<Jonathan Cahn’s "The Avatar" continues the prophetic trajectory of "The Harbinger" and "The Return of the Gods," revealing a framework where history, prophecy, and present-day events interweave — and where the unseen world still seeks to shape the destiny of nations.

How to Nourish Mental Health in Your Family

By Jim Daly,

President of Focus on the Family

<<Licensed counselor Debra Fileta, author of multiple books, including "Are You Really OK" and "Any Day Emotions," offers practical, biblical advice for assessing your mental, physical, and spiritual health. Helping you walk toward healing and wholeness for the entire family!

<<Jim: Talking about emotional health and well-being, every marriage and family starts with mom and dad, husband and wife as individuals, and then you come together and you’re bringing it all into the marriage. Jean and I have certainly experienced that. And then you gotta start working things out.

<<John: Yeah. And then you have kids who just intensify all of that.

<<Jim: So we’re gonna be talking about general well-being in the whole family. Certainly it starts with mom and dad, but it extends to the kids.

<<Debra: It’s amazing because God designed emotions. And I think sometimes in Christian culture in particular, we say faith over feelings or faith versus feelings. But really, feelings are the SOS system that God gave us and wants to use feelings to tell us, “Pay attention. Pay attention. There’s something here that I want you to pay attention to.” So, when we take feelings and when we combine them with God’s truth, it takes us to a, a new level of health.

<<Jim: You have a story about your college car.

<<Debra: I had this wild lemon of a car in college, and it was constantly breaking down. It was constantly, like, doing the craziest things. The alarm would go off. The windshield wipers would just start to wipe out of nowhere. The locks wouldn’t work. One time, I went in to try to unlock the car, put the key in, ’cause this was back in the day where you had to use a key. And the whole lock cylinder came out on my key. I could have dealt with those symptoms in a superficial way. I could have taken off the windshield wipers, I could have muffled the alarm, I could have taped up the windows that kept rolling down.

<<And, and sometimes while I was driving, this would happen. (laughing) I could have dealt with those things superficially, but it wasn’t getting to the root of the problem until I took it to the mechanic, and he said, “Hey, there’s some wires crossed here.” A friend of mine had tried to help me install a stereo system, crossed the wires, and it was a whole mess.

<<And, I think oftentimes in our lives, we’ve got these things going on above the surface. We’ve got relationship issues, we’ve got anger issues, we’ve got addictions, we’ve got struggles, and we try to deal with it superficially instead of getting to the root. We try to tape it. We try to, to muffle it. We try to do things externally, but we’re not getting to the root of what’s really going on underneath the surface where the wires have been crossed. When we begin to do that...the whole concept of emotional health is getting underneath the surface and inviting God to reveal what he wants to heal.
