For this reason we also, since the day we heard it, do not cease to pray for you, and to ask that you may be filled with the knowledge of His will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding; that you may walk worthy of the Lord, fully pleasing Him, Colossians 1:9-10

The Bible has much to say about how we should walk in this life as Christians. Here in Paul’s prayer for the Colossian brethren, his constant request before God was for them to be filled with the knowledge of God’s will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding.

The result would be a life walking worthy of the Lord, pleasing Him in every way possible. This was a priority for him, and it should be for each of us today. God gives us commandments. He doesn’t give us suggestions or requests. Jesus told us that if we truly love Him, we’ll prove that by keeping His commandments (John 14:15).

Make me walk in the path of Your commandments, for I delight in it. Psalms 119:35.

We need to make the priorities of our life the same as they were back then for great people of God like David and Paul. I want to walk in the path of God’s commandments, but more than that, I need to walk in those commandments – and so do you! Why? Because walking the Lord’s commandment path is our source of joy and daily delight in serving the Lord as His bond servants (Romans 1:1).

Walking worthy requires a commitment to follow this path and no other. When we do this, we don’t just become pleasing to the Lord - we become fully pleasing. Fully pleasing means we’re living our life at the pinnacle of spiritual awareness, managing each day with spiritual understanding of the unseen warfare taking place on earth for the eternal souls of men.

It also means we have the strength to withstand any and all attacks of the enemy to either kill us, or at the very least, render us inactive and prevent us from fulfilling our purpose in this life for Christ.

I want to hear Jesus say to me someday: “Well done, good and faithful servant” (Matthew 25:23).  That is all I really want in this life.  No matter what He wants me to do, or where He tells me to go, at the end of the day, I want my life to be fully pleasing to Him.

Fully pleasing with my thoughts, my words, my priorities, my commitment to excellence in Him, and my faithful reliability to always carry out His commands with a pure, sanctified heart. I hope this is your priority in life as well. If it isn’t, decide to make it so – now. Change your life’s priorities, and make the aim of walking worthy before the Lord the top priority – nothing else.

For we walk by faith not by sight. We are confident, yes, well pleased rather to be absent from the body and to be present with the Lord. Therefore, we make it our aim, whether present or absent, to be well pleasing to Him. For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, that each one may receive the things done in the body, according to what he has done, whether good or bad. 2 Corinthians 5:7-10.

I, therefore, the prisoner of the Lord, beseech you to walk worthy of the calling with which you were called. Ephesians 4:1

In my opinion, there is no greater honor in life than to be an official ambassador for the Lord (2 Corinthians 5:20). God could’ve chosen any number of different ways to spread the life-saving gospel, but He decided on this one. Think of it, brethren. The Almighty God, creator of everything in existence, who holds all things together by the word of His power (Hebrews 1:3), decided to limit His evangelistic activity on earth to partnership with people like you and me.

I find that absolutely amazing, and tremendously humbling at the same time. With all of our faults, issues and problems, He still refuses to move upon the lives of sinners apart from what we say or do in the name of Jesus. What an honor! This calling is the greatest honor any human being could have bestowed upon them. That’s why we must walk worthy of it.

You are witnesses, and God also, how devoutly and justly and blamelessly we behaved ourselves among you who believe; as you know how we exhorted, and comforted, and charged every one of you, as a father does his own children, that you would walk worthy of God who calls you into His own kingdom and glory.  1 Thessalonians 2:10-12

We need to live our lives in the light of eternity. That one word should compel us to action and daily discipline (1 Corinthians 9:27). We need to identify and avoid the carnal distractions in life, which the Bible describes as weights (Hebrews 12:1), and we need to avoid becoming entangled in the affairs of life (2 Timothy 2:4). Why? Because of the multitudes of unsaved people we’re told to reach in the name of Jesus – people deceived about the reality of spiritual warfare and divine judgment (Hebrews 6:1-2).

Sinners are one heart attack away from eternity in hell. One stroke away. One car crash away. One drug overdose away. I love riding motorcycles, but I understand the inherent dangers, so I’m careful not to ride in a way that gives place to the devil. I shake my head when I see other motorcyclists riding recklessly, totally unaware of the eternal danger in doing so. I pray for them, asking the Lord if they’re unsaved, to protect them until they’ve had one more chance to hear and act on the truth before it’s too late. All of us should be thinking and living this way.

We are spirits living in physical bodies. Our bodies will one day perish, but our spirit lives on, and will spend eternity in one of two places. For those of us who choose God’s free gift of salvation in Christ, we have an eternity of unspeakable joy ahead of us, being with Jesus forever. For those who don’t, they will spend eternity in a lake that burns with fire and brimstone, confined there with the devil, fallen angels, demons and every evil and vile person that has ever existed. They’ll be separated from God, suffering in those flames, with no hope of ever getting out!

Every church and every church service needs to function with this reality in mind. As much as I love my Lord, and thank Him daily for saving me from hell, I shudder at what awaits those around me who have never been saved. Maybe they’re religious but not born-again – like I was. I pray consistently for the Lord to help me walk worthy of this calling – to be an efficient, effective ambassador for Him. You should be doing the same.

Also, I heard the voice of the Lord, saying: “Whom shall I send, and who will go for Us?” Isaiah 6:8

I stare at this verse, and just marvel that God is even asking such a question.  Isaiah’s answer must be ours today as well. Here we are, Lord. Send us. Use us! Every day, this should be our mindset from the time we wake till the time we sleep.

Don’t disappoint God! Don’t grieve the Holy Spirit! Don’t force God to look for someone else to do what He wants you to do.

Be obedient. Be dependable. Be trustworthy. Walk worthy.

The cost of educating our students falls mainly upon the MKMI ministry. The students are charged tuition, but the actual budget for housing, feeding and educating them is much more than their tuition can cover. That’s why sponsorship has become so vital. If you would like to sponsor one or more of our current or future students, the total cost to underwrite one of them is $95 monthly, or $855 annually (for nine months of study – vacation time excluded). This covers everything we need to provide for them. And remember, your gifts are always tax-deductible.

We’re believing God will provide sponsors for 35 students. If this is something you feel led to help us with, be sure to designate “Sponsor a Student” from the drop down menu when clicking the link below for online contributions. We will then assign one of our new students to you, with a picture and bio so you can know who it is that you’re supporting.
