Booking rides to see Santa through 9 PM December 24

For kids and kids-at-heart-grown-ups, Wales West in Silverhill offers a unique opportunity to ride a real train, see Santa, create a craft, play a game of mini-golf, shoot a potato cannon, enjoy "snow" falling, kettle corn, hot cocoa, and more. Dame Ann and her team at the Wales West depot have been helping to create many great memories over the years for families, friends, date-night couples, adoptable dogs, yes, even the Grinch himself. Sunday, December 22, 2024

Greetings from C. Darby Ulery, founder of "Let's Go! Fairhope" events-related newsletter, calendar and website resource for Fairhope, Alabama.

Welcome to the week of Christmas, beginning of Chanukah, Kwanzaa, Festivus, and more. Please choose "view entire message" below on this issue, as we've included many remaining holiday (and not-holiday) opportunities for 2024 and into 2025...

Thank you to Barry Silverman and the Mobile Jewish Federation for providing the Fairhope Chanukah event information. Reminder: The annual Mobile Jewish Film Festival is coming up quickly with screenings on both sides of the bay. Everyone of all faiths and backgrounds is welcome. "The Survivor" will be shown here in Fairhope. Information about this film as well as the festival is included below in the save-the-date section.

Tired of cooking even if you haven't started yet? Cousins Maine Lobster (the food truck with the lines known to wrap around for miles) is offering a holiday family take-home-kit option for pick up. Deadline to order is Monday, December 23. See info below.

Heard of Festivus, but not exactly sure what it is? In case you aren't familiar with some "newish" American traditions including Airing of Grievances, meatloaf on lettuce, a clock in a bag, wrestling matches and more, here are a couple of articles to help jump-start your own new traditions, reinforce existing ones, or at least be in-the-know around the holiday table. Learn more..

Do you have a unique or special favorite holiday tradition? I hope you'll reply and share.

For those who are ready to put away the fruitcake, wrapping paper, and jingle bells for another year, there are some options below for you as well.

This week we're:

  • Partying on the pier with Shawn Williams at The Blind Tiger
  • Ordering lobster rolls to compliment the yule logs
  • Sipping cocoa with the Mayor
  • Streaming holiday music via Fairhope's own WABF radio
  • Coming together for Christmas Eve / Christmas Day services
  • Celebrating Chanukah at the Pier pavilion
  • Gearing up for Single Tax lectures into 2025
  • More...

Don't forget, many images & fuchsia-colored text links are clickable, and anyone anywhere can be included in the newsletter...
