The Trucker Tax Letter
"We don't just "do" your taxes, we CUT them"

Inside The Mind of Your Tax Professional...
My Holiday Scrooge Letter
by Dennis Bridges

I will admit to having somewhat "mixed" feelings about the holiday season. It's not that I don't enjoy and appreciate the meditative/hectic nature of what we do this month. It's beautiful.

It's more that I know that this is the just the calm before the storm for a tax pro.

And with the recent mid-term elections, I'm being regularly
asked by clients and friends about whether I think that this will mean that there could be meaningful tax reform. Sadly, the answer is no.

Further, this year (2014) will be the first year that we are tasked,
as tax professionals, to provide health insurance verification with
every return that is filed. That means if you do NOT have health
insurance that we will have to report as such to the IRS. And, if
you do, they will be matching your income with any reporting
previously submitted for purposes of getting subsidies on the
exchanges. Fun, fun, fun, 'til your Daddy takes the T-Bird away
(with deep apologies to the Beach Boys).

Prepare Now To Make Healthy Changes in 2015
____________________ __
Oh, the dreaded New Year Resolutions. Let's actually do something that will make some real change this year, shall we? Here are some ways to get ready...

* Write down your goals. Make them specific; make sure you can measure the goals. For instance, instead of "Lose some weight," resolve to drop five pounds by June 30.

* Motivate yourself. Write down why you want to achieve the goal. List all the ways you will benefit from achieving it.

* Take stock. Analyze exactly where you are now in reaching
that goal. Note the strengths that will help you, the weaknesses that could hurt you, and the opportunities you
can use to attain what you want.

____________________   In the 19th century, when the telegraph was the fastest method of long-distance communication, a young man went to an office in New York City to apply for a job as a Morse code operator. Inside, he found
a busy office filled with the noise and clatter of employees, customers, and the clicking of a telegraph in a corner.
He joined seven other applicants for the job, all waiting to be summoned into the inner office for an interview.
But after five minutes, the young man stood up with a smile and walked confidently into the office without an invitation.

These Clients Are
Like a Gift

We're so honored by our clients who graciously refer their friends, neighbors and family our way so they, too, can save money on taxes in 2014-15. During this economy, we each need all the money we can preserve from the IRS! Do You Have Friends That Want To Save on Taxes?

What is Your

"Next Level"?

As we begin to wind down for the year and settle in with friends and family for the holidays, think about this:

Don't even worry about "swinging for the fence" or making a million bucks in 2015. What would it take to simply take your life to the next level - say, a 10 or 20 percent improvement. Regardless of your profession.

What is the math that would let you "crank it up a notch" next year?

Less than three weeks from now, on December 27, I'll be walking my baby girl Kimberly down the aisle. Robin and I will be empty-nesters. At a neighborhood party last night, we were talking about planning a couple of "Triple D" road trips! (If you watch "Diners, Drive-ins and Dives" on the Food Network, you'll know what this is about!)
