King of Peace MCC Matters
December 22, 2021

Join us this Friday night, December 24th at 8 pm, in person or online, for our very special Christmas Eve Candlelight Service. We'll sing lots of your favorite Christmas hymns. We'll have special music. We'll close the service by lighting the candles as we sing "Silent Night". We'll usher in the birth of the Christ child in the best way possible. You won't want to miss this very special time of worship!
Kwanzaa Worship Service
Next Sunday, December 26th, at 10 am, we will have a very special worship service as we celebrate the start of Kwanzaa. Devised in 1966 by Dr. Maulana Karenga, a professor of Africana studies at California State University in Long Beach, CA, Kwanzaa is observed from December 26th-January 1st. Each of the days of celebration is dedicated to one of the seven principles of Kwanzaa: unity (umoja), self-determination (kujichagulia), collective responsibility (ujima), cooperative economics (ujamaa), purpose (nia), creativity (kuumba), and faith (imani).

As we worship this Sunday, we will focus on the principle of unity (umoja). We hope you'll join us in-person or online, and join in this celebration of diversity and inclusion; the first fruits of the gospel of Jesus.
A Word from Rev. Renae
The time to celebrate the birth of our Savior is upon us. I know you may have some beautifully wrapped gifts under your tree, but we must not forget that the greatest gift this Christmas is still found in the manger. I hope you will join us in person or online for our Candlelight Christmas Eve Service on Friday at 8pm. We have a wonderful service planned with many special vocalists and the sharing of the good news – our Savior is born!

This Sunday we will be celebrating the Kwanzaa principle Umoja which means unity in Swahili. We will light the kinara and learn about the seven principles of Kwanzaa. Celebrating diversity is a core value in our denomination and a way to welcome other cultures to our church. Come and share in the experience of Kwanzaa this Sunday!

Holy God, we are so very thankful for all those who make up King of Peace. Help us to appreciate our past and realize you are doing a new thing in our midst. We have accepted your call to journey into unknown territory and continue to place our future in Your hands. Guide us by Your Spirit and prepare us for the next steps. May we be one in love and mission. We ask this prayer in the name of Jesus the Christ. Amen.

Thank You for All the Donations for Turning Point!
We want to say a great big "Thank you!" to everyone who donated for our special donation drive for Turning Point! You can see your gratitude in the picture above! (and we even had some more come in this week!) God loves a generous giver!
We are taking up a very special Christmas offering this year for King of Peace. At this time of year, we are always giving gifts out to those we love. Why not consider giving a gift to King of Peace that is above and beyond what you normally give? It can be whatever you want it to be. No gift is too small. As the old song goes, "Little is much when God is in it!" If you'd like to give a gift, there are stockings in the lobby. Put your gift into the stocking and drop it into the offering plate. We'll hang all the stockings up on the mantle of the fire place in our sanctuary for everyone to see. We'll be accepting these anytime between now and the end of the year!
Starting Sunday, January 2nd, we will resume a more regular Coffee Hour after worship. Our Hospitality Team is bringing back Coffee Hour on the 1st and 3rd Sundays of each month, but we need your help. We are asking that you bring some snacks to share. If your last name starts with A-L, please bring something on the 1st Sunday of the month. If your last name starts with M-Z, bring something on the 3rd Sunday of the month. If you have any questions, reach out to our Hospitality Team Leader, Dwayne Shepherd at
