We are excited to announce that this year, the Ignite Youth Ministry will present a Christmas play to our entire Calvary Church family titled “If It Were Me.” The youth of Ignite will bring the Christmas story to life in a modern and humorous way, offering a unique and unforgettable perspective on the birth of our Savior. We invite you to join us for this special event on Saturday, December 14, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM in the main sanctuary.

After the play, everyone is invited to the church hall for Christmas cookie decorating and eating. It’s sure to be a fun and inspirational evening for the whole family! Please show your love and support for our youth. Invite your friends and family. We guarantee you will be blessed!!

Christmas Eve Candlelight Service – Dec. 24 @ 6 pm

Bring your family and friends to our annual Christmas Eve Candlelight service. This one-hour service is designed to engage the whole family in worship to our God for the greatest gift ever given – the gift of Jesus Christ, our Savior and Lord.

New Year’s Eve HOPE NIGHT – December 31 10PM-Midnight

We will gather at 10pm-midnight for a special New Year’s Eve celebration service.

Join us for a special time of music, messages, and prayers centered around the theme of HOPE! We are looking for people to participate by sharing a testimony, song, poem, scripture, spoken word, etc... to express what you are hoping for the Holy Spirit to do in your life or through your life in 2025.

If you would like to be involved, please sign up below, and we will get back to you to talk about your participation.

Why gather around a screen to watch a ball fall down when you can gather with family and lift up the name of Jesus?

CALVARY CARES & SHARES

Calvary Church exists to LEARN, LIVE, AND SHARE the Good News of Jesus. This Christmas season, we have some awesome opportunities for you to help us fulfill the “SHARE” part of our mission. We invite you to join us in SHARING the love of Jesus and the truth about Jesus by GIVING and GOING!

YOU CAN SHARE JESUS BY GIVING

1.    A gift for a child in need through Angel Tree. You will see a Christmas tree filled with paper angels in the church lobby. Each angel represents a child in need of a Christmas gift. The angels fall into three categories:

A.   Most paper angels represent children sent to us through the Prison Fellowships “Angel Tree” program. PF’s “Angel Tree Program equips churches to strengthen relationships between incarcerated parents and their children and families and to minister to children by delivering a gift, the Gospel message, and a personal message of love on behalf of their incarcerated parent.

B.   Some angels represent children who are current residents with their moms at Life Turning Point of Philadelphia, A Christ-centered home for homeless moms and their children.

C.   Some angels represent children from families who are part of our Calvary Church family.

When you take an angel, please make sure you sign it out with the person working at the angel tree. All gifts must be wrapped, tagged with your paper Angel, and returned to the Welcome Center by December 15.

2.    Donating to our Clothing Drive

During the Christmas holiday season, Calvary will collect clothing donations to bless two ministry partners – one old and one new! We have had a ministry partnership with Chosen 300 for over 8 years. In his “Thank You” letter addressed to Calvary in September of this year, Executive Director Brian Jenkins wrote,

“Your church alone has prepared an estimated 12,000 meals to the homeless of Philadelphia, and most importantly shared the gospel of Jesus to people who are often rejected.”

Chosen 300 needs winter hats, socks, and toiletries for the homeless population they serve in Philadelphia.

Recently, through Rita Whitaker of LTPP, we were introduced to a ministry that is doing great work right in our backyard.

Every Good Gift is a Christian non-profit charitable organization that provides job training for young single mothers in the Philadelphia region at their Glenside and Kensington locations. Their mission is to share the love of Christ with vulnerable women and nurture healthy job, life, and relationship skills while creating quality products for customers. At this time, Every Good Gift is in need of winter hats, gloves, and scarves for women and children (5 years old and under).

YOU CAN SHARE JESUS BY GOING...

Join a team of volunteers from Calvary to assist our ministry partner, The Philly Dream Center, with their annual Christmas Party and T0y Giveaway for needy families in Philadelphia on Saturday, December 21.

Our team will be helping with greeting, giving out toys, engaging with the children, helping facilitate games, and sharing and praying with the parents in need. There may be a need for help with parking and cleaning up afterward. Our team of volunteers will need to be at Philly Dream Center in Port Richmond on Saturday, December 21, at 8:30. The outreach will conclude around noon.

JOIN A LIFE GROUP AND START GROWING

Authentic followers of Jesus have been taught and challenged to live out what they have learned and then take what they have learned and share it with others. Small groups are the best way to experience this learning, living, and sharing the good news. We can't love others meaningfully if we don't first get to know them. Being part of a small group will help you learn how to apply the Bible to your daily life with and from others. Meaningful group discussions and prayer help us realize we aren't alone in our questions, joys, and struggles.
