Christmas Honoraria and Memorials Benefit Decorations and Special Music. If you would like to honor or memorialize loved ones by offering a donation for Christmas greenery, decorations, or special music, including guest instrumentalists, you may donate online , mail donations with acknowledgements to Parish Administrator, Leigh Dixon, 115 West Seventh Street, Charlotte, NC 28202, or use a "Christmas Contribution" envelope available at St. Peter's.

2018 Annual Fund Update. On Tuesday, December 19, the Parish Treasurer reported that 267 pledges totaling $862,180 had been received toward  Giving with Gratitude: Support Life at St. Peter's. The Treasurer's Report at the Annual Meeting summarized our 2017 financial stewardship and provided a 2018 operating budget draft. 100% participation from all member households will make our 2018 goal a reality. Year-end Contributions. All pledges and financial contributions for the 2017 fiscal year must be received in the Financial Administration Office by Sunday, December 31, in order to receive credit for 2017. Contributions may be paid online or delivered to the attention of Parish Administrator, Leigh Dixon ( ldixon@st-peters.org, 704-749-6142).
Worship and Music

Service of the Longest Night, December 21. St. Peter's will offer a Service of the Longest Night, also known as a "Blue Christmas" liturgy, on Thursday, December 21, at 6:00 p.m. All are invited to attend this Holy Eucharist with hymns and music for piano as an intentional time of remembering and celebrating the lives of loved ones no longer present physically in households and communities for holiday gatherings.

Fourth Sunday of Advent, December 24. This year, because the Fourth Sunday of Advent and Christmas Eve fall on the same day, there will be one morning service at 10:00 a.m. to celebrate the Fourth Sunday of Advent before the afternoon transition to the Christmas liturgies.

Christmas Pageant Rehearsal, December 24. Our pageant will be offered as the Liturgy of the Word for the 4:00 p.m. Holy Eucharist on Christmas Eve. All children are invited to join the cast and attend the rehearsal on Sunday, December 24, 2:30 p.m. until the beginning of the service.  Learn more and sign up for all roles here. Christmas Services at St. Peter's, December 24-25. Christmas Eve services: 4:00 p.m. Holy Eucharist with Pageant; 7:00 p.m. Holy Eucharist (6:45 p.m. Choral Prelude); 10:30 p.m. Holy Eucharist (10:00 p.m. Choral Prelude); Christmas Day Holy Eucharist, 10:00 a.m. Nursery available for 4:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. services, and parking valet available for 4:00 p.m., 7:00 p.m., and 10:30 p.m.

Morning Prayer Schedule, December 25-29. When the Parish House and Offices are closed December 25-27, our customary weekday service of Morning Prayer will be, 8:00-8:30 a.m. in the Chapel.

Learning

Sunday Formation for Adults, Youth, and Children: Holiday Break.Classes will be suspended on December 24 and 31 and resume on January 7. The January 7 Parish Hall Forum will feature "New Year Reflections on Who We Are: Baptismal Identity and Mission," a conversation led by the Clergy. The 2018 Winter-Spring-Summer Calendar of Worship, Programs, and Events will be released soon to consider a host of offerings, including new weekday and small group events.

Epiphany Retreat, Saturday, January 6: Registration Open. The Reverend Keith C. Lane and parishioner/spiritual director Elizabeth Richardson will facilitate "Stillness in Center City," an instructed time of quiet, exploration, and spiritual formation, on Saturday, January 6 at St. Peter's, 8:30 a.m.-1:00 p.m.  Learn more and register here .
Community Life 

Greening of the Church, December 23-24. The Altar and Flower Guilds look to extra helping hands to decorate parish buildings and grounds for the season. Duties are available for adults, youth, and older children. Parish House and Offices Holiday Schedule. Monday-Wednesday, December 25-27, and Monday, January 1, the Parish House and Offices will be closed. For pastoral or hospital emergencies concerning parishioners, contact the Clergy On Call at 704-749-6175.

2017 Annual Meeting of the Parish Report. At the December 10 Annual Meeting of the Parish, Marcus Clarke, Ellison Clary, Mike Hoffman, and Mary Lynn Sepkowitz were elected for a 2018-2020 Vestry term. They will assume their duties and ministry area responsibilities between the January 5-6 Vestry Retreat and January 16 Vestry meeting. Chronic Care Support Group: First Fridays. The next gathering of this first-Friday group will be January 5, 11:00 a.m. in the Parlor. The Reverend Keith Lane and others facilitate this fellowship for persons with chronic illnesses of any sort and caregivers alike. Parish Groups and Guilds. If you wish to make new or revive old connections through regular or occasional small group fellowships,  visit Groups, Guilds and Events. Watch for notices about events of the Senior Class, Young Adults, and new opportunities to begin in 2018.
Outreach and Social Justice

Room in the Inn hosted at St. Peter's. On each Wednesday evening from December 6 through March, St. Peter's participates in Room in the Inn (RITI) by providing a warm, welcoming place where twelve neighbors can share a meal and sleep in our Parish Hall. Martin Luther King, Jr. Holiday Parade, January 13. St. Peter's Social Justice Team invites all parishioners to participate in the parade on Saturday, January 13, 10:00 a.m.-Noon. Volunteers are needed to march, offer sidewalk and churchyard hospitality, and assist with setup. Sign up at the Social Justice table on the Sundays prior to the event or learn more and sign up online.
