Gurnee Community Church Children's Ministry

Whether you are just joining our Children's Ministry monthly emails or have received them for quite awhile there are always great thing to read about!  We're glad you are a part of the GCC's Children's Ministry!!!!
Sunday School

We will be starting preparation for our song and hand bells for the Elementary students starting November 19th.  Practice will be during the regular 10:45 service but we ask that if your child wants to do the handbells or have a small group solo part in the song that they attend November 19th, December 3rd and 10th. It is very important that they are here the above three dates.  PreK and 3 year olds will have a part in the program also, which will be practiced during Sunday school time. We will have the program during the 10:45 service on Sunday, December 17th.

Below are the words that your children can be practicing at home...

3 Year Old/Preschool
Pat-a-cake, Pat-a-cake, baker's man, bake me a cake as fast as you can;
(pat-a-cake with a partner)
Pat it and prick it, and mark it with a J,
(smoosh their hands together, poke in the air, and make a letter "J" in the air with their finger)
Let's celebrate Christmas, which is Jesus' birthday!
(shout hoorah at the end)

This, this is Christ the King,
Whom shepherds guard and Angels sing
Haste, haste, to bring Him laud,
The Babe, the Son of Mary.

We will work with the children this coming Sunday as well but the more practice the better.

We will have 3 Christmas Eve Services; 10:45 am, 5:00 and 7:00 pm.  All three services will be completely identical.  The children will stay in the service for the entire time.  There will be a goody bag given at the door with some activities, a children's message during the service and candle lighting at the end.  We will have the nursery open for birth - two year old.

My family and I had a wonderful time as we visited Scotland (my husband's home country).  We saw the beautiful countryside, amazing castles and history that cannot be seen in the U.S. We were able to enjoy a lot of social time with friends. We went to the church he grow up attending and it was lovely. Everything there was great, but it wasn't the same as home.

Being gone showed us how much we enjoy where we are, especially our church family.  I missed the children's smiling faces and catching up with everyone.  I feel a unity and completeness when I am with you and your children.

From him the whole body, joined and held together by every supporting ligament, grows and builds itself up in love, as each part does its work. (Ephesians 4:16)

Thank you for being a part of my family and allowing me to be a part of yours.  May God bless you all in this coming Christmas season.
