HCS Presents "A Glorious Christmas"

A Glorious Christmas
Saturday, December 1, 2018

The Foundry Church
Concert begins at 7:30 PM

The Houston Choral Society's Christmas concert is always an audience favorite and has become an annual tradition for hundreds of Houston families.  This year, HCS presents  A Glorious Christmas , which promises to once again help you start off the Christmas season in a joyful mood.

A Glorious Christmas will feature audience caroling and a special visit by Santa Claus.  This concert is perfect way to bring in the Christmas season for the entire family!

The Houston Choral Society is pleased to collaborate on this concert with the Strake Jesuit and St. Agnes Double Triple Trios.  Under their director, Art Buckley, this talented group of young singers commonly performs at the Renaissance Festival and other special events throughout the city.
Dr. Klotz chose the title of the concert, "A Glorious Christmas," since many of the works on the program speak of the glory of Christ's birth and the glorious season of Christmas.  One of the highlights on the program is Randol Bass' "Gloria,"a festive setting of the Latin text of the song of the angels accompanied by brass, organ, and percussion.
Another highlight for this program is Randol Bass' "Christmas Flourish," a collection of familiar carols set in an energetic and refreshed style with brass quintet, percussion and organ.  Bass described this work as having a "jolly energy."  A fitting finale for this concert is Handel's famous chorus from  Messiah , "Hallelujah," also referred to simply as the "Hallelujah Chorus" because of its great popularity throughout history.

Be Part of Making Beautiful Music

Houston Choral Society needs your help to raise $10,000

We are seeking your support to develop an  Orchestra Fund. All masterwork compositions for chorus require an orchestra. Despite the cost of a professional orchestra, we do not raise the price of tickets for our concerts that include orchestra. It is our desire to be able to perform these wonderful classical and contemporary compositions with the orchestra required, while keeping prices accessible t o all. Your help makes it happen!  You can give via the link directly below through the FaceBook Giving Tuesday page, or you can use the donate button at the bottom of the email or on our website.  THANK YOU for all you do to support the Houston Choral Society.
