Dear QB Country Friends and Family,
The Advent season teaches us a lot about managing our expectations. The days and weeks leading up to Christmas are a time of hopeful anticipation as we look forward to the celebration of Christ’s birth with those we love most. It also seems to be a time of waiting patiently. As I’ve reflected during Advent, I’m reminded that patience isn’t passive – it’s an active pursuit. We don’t just show up on Christmas Day, we prepare our hearts in advance. We commit every day to the people around us, to being the person we want to be so we won’t miss the chance to give and receive blessings. In this giving and receiving, we experience the happiest time of the year. This isn’t by accident…it’s intentional.
In much the same way, if we want something we don’t just sit around and wait for it to happen. Achieving our hopes and dreams comes with work, sacrifice, time, and quite often a good deal of painful learning along the way. In fact, the word “patience” comes from the Latin “pati” – which literally means “to suffer.” It has been an exciting year for our quarterbacks and for QB Country, but we’ve all experienced disappointments. Injuries, benchings, tough losses, missed opportunities, uncertainty in our place or position, it’s all part of football – and life. And in every bit of it we give thanks! We have no regrets because we prepared and gave it our best! If you are required to be patient right now, know that it’s preparing you for what’s to come. Where you are right now is exactly where you should be. Faith is believing God’s promise, regardless of stumbles and suffering. Faith gives substance to our hopes, belief in things not seen.
This Christmas, may your preparation and patience be rewarded with peace and perspective, love and joy and a memorable celebration with family and friends. We wish you joy and happiness, and extend our deepest gratitude for your continued belief in us. You’ve blessed us!
Merry Christmas,
David Morris
