Who will you invite?
Christmas is coming soon.
For just a moment, think of your co-workers, neighbors, extended family members, and people you run into on a regular basis. Is there anyone who comes to mind you could invite to come with you to one of our Christmas liturgies? Maybe there’s a co-worker who is new to the area and hasn’t yet found a church home. Perhaps you have a family member who is interested in faith but hasn’t made a decision to follow Christ yet. Even if no one comes to mind now, ask God if there’s someone He wants you to invite. Be prepared to take action and extend an invitation. We look forward to seeing you at 4 PM, 6:30 PM, or 10:30 PM on December 24, or at 10 AM on December 25.
THIS SUNDAY
SUNDAY, DECEMBER 23
Sunday's Guest Preacher: The Rev. Canon Joseph Chambers serves as Canon to the Ordinary of the Episcopal Diocese of Missouri. Among his responsibilities are Diocesan Convention Planning, Programs and Constitutions, and Canons. He was formerly the Canon for Mission and Young Adults, and served as Chaplain of the Rockwell House, Episcopal Campus Ministry at Washington University.
He is married to Canon Amy Chambers Cortright, Vicar at Christ Church Cathedral, and they have two beautiful children. Joe is an avid runner and mountain climber; he loves the outdoors and playing golf. His interests are wide-ranging, from music and playing guitar to graphic design and website development.

BAKE SALE: Thank you to everyone who baked, volunteered, or purchased from this year’s bake sale! It was a huge success.

NAMETAGS: Please wear your nametags. If you cannot find your nametag, please write your name on the clipboard in the Wydown Narthex. A nametag will be waiting for you on the clipboard next week.
Did you know that Advent is Latin for “a coming or arrival” and it is the season of preparation for the birth of Jesus? We display an Advent wreath, a circular garland of evergreen branches, as a symbol of eternity (with no beginning and no end) and unending love.
Four candles are arranged on the wreath and one is lit on each Sunday during the season. Each of the Advent candles represents a spiritual readying for the celebration of Christmas and the coming of the light of Christ into the world. The blue candles signify the color of the night sky or the waters of the new creation. The first candle to be lit is the Prophecy Candle, or the Candle of Hope. The second to be lit is called the Bethlehem Candle, or the Candle of the Way, reminding us of Mary and Joseph’s long journey and their faith in God’s plan for salvation. On the third Sunday, we light a rose-colored candle for Gaudete (Latin for “rejoice”) Sunday or Joy Sunday, also called the Shephard’s Candle. The fourth candle is the Angel’s Candle or Candle of Peace, and it reminds us that Jesus comes to bring peace and light to the world and to our hearts.

JTM WOMEN'S MINISTRY FUND
Jan Torrisi-Mokwa was invaluable in enhancing the Women's Ministry at The Church of St. Michael & St. George, as well as founding the ECW Steering Council by lovingly guiding the group through a process that brought our value and mission statements to fruition. One of the ways that her memory will be honored is by establishing a fund to support the Women's Retreats that Jan so dearly loved. The money will be used to pay for retreat leaders as well as provide scholarships for attendees. If you would like to contribute, please make your check payable to CSMSG and note "JTM Women's Ministry Fund" in the memo. Please contact Laurie Brown at [email protected] if you have any questions.
