Pastor's Message

  Dear Friend in Faith,

Sometimes the places we come from can pop up in the most unexpected ways. For instance, every once in awhile I'll catch myself saying "supper" instead of "dinner" or "pop" instead of "soda", and I'll realize that my midwestern background is showing through. Or whenever I see a vintage Ford Mustang out and about, I instinctively will tell whoever is with me what year it is - just as my dad did to me throughout my entire childhood. It seems that no matter how hard we might try, we can't ever fully outrun our past. We carry these little quirks and habits with us throughout our entire lives. Perhaps this is because they were the things that shaped us into who we are today.

It can be difficult to discern what plan God has for us. With all of the distractions of life clouding our vision, the path lying ahead of us can be hazy and unclear. But the Bible reminds us that sometimes the best way to see what is coming up is to look back at where we've been.

This Sunday, join us for worship at PVUMC as we continue to ask "Which Way, Lord?" We'll be looking at how the apostle Paul's unique cultural, educational, and religious background set him on course to be one of the most influential Christian leaders ever,...

Prayer Chapel, Sunday Lenten Experiences and Worship at PVUMC
Paradise Valley United Methodist Church (PVUMC) invites you to experience Lent every day during the six-week season.

One way is through the practice of prayer. The campus has two rooms designed for this purpose, along with the worship spaces, the chapel and sanctuary. Under the chapel, there's a 24-hour prayer room and in the H Building, there's a meditation room, H6. Feel free to use these rooms for prayer if they are open and not reserved for a meeting.

The Learning and Living Ministry Team also offers several Sunday morning experiences on the patio after worship. Look for the crossroad signs, which echo the theme of Paul’s journeys in the Bible and as they are described in Rob Fuquay’s book, Which Way Lord? Exploring Your Life’s Purpose in the Journeys of Paul. The serenity chimes will be available at various locations on campus for mindful meditation on February 18 and 25 Read More about the other experiences on the website, pvumc.org.

The Prayers of Intercession are included in the Looking Ahead. Unless otherwise requested, prayer requests are e-mailed to the 200+ Prayer Team members and shared with pastors and staff. Submit a prayer request using our online request form or call the church office at 602.840.8360.

Worship Bulletins are available for the 8 am and 9:30 am worship services on Sunday.
Ignite at 11 am is an alternative, contemporary and bulletin-free service in the chapel.
