Governor at groundbreaking of new $5 million ceramic core facility

Florida Governor Rick Scott joined Chromalloy officials and employees on February 3 as the company broke ground on a new $5 million ceramic core production facility in Tampa, Fla. The new 40,000-square-foot production facility will be built adjacent to the company’s newly operational $30 million industrial investment foundry.

Chromalloy announced a new thermal barrier coating to enhance performance of turbine engines. "Chromalloy's new thermal barrier coating - the RT-35 Low K coating - provides lower thermal conductivity, which allows higher engine temperatures," said Dr. Peter Howard, Vice President, Technology and Quality Assurance.

Chromalloy exhibits at largest MRO show in Middle East

Chromalloy was a gold sponsor at the recent MRO Middle East 2011, hosted by Aviation Week. The conference and exhibition was held Feb. 1-2 at the Dubai Airport Expo, Dubai, U.A.E. More than 1,500 people attended the third annual gathering, including aerospace executives, airline maintenance officials and other senior industry officials. Cost saving, performance record attracts operators to PMA engine parts at UBM conference

The value proposition offered by Parts Manufacturer Approval (PMA) equipment for gas turbine engines continues to attract operators to compare the quality and performance over original equipment manufacturer (OEM) parts, said Dennis Piotrowski, FRAeS, Vice President of Quality at BELAC LLC. Speaking during the recent UBM Aero-Engine Cost Management conference at Dallas/Fort Worth, Piotrowski told attendees PMA use has continued to grow in the last several years as airlines identified new cost saving opportunities that took advantage of FAA/PMA and DER approved repairs.

Van der Linden will speak in a presentation titled, “PMA Parts and DER Repairs: An Assessment of the Prospects and Barriers to their Acceptance.” The presentation will explore the range, potential and demand for Parts Manufacturer Approval (PMA) parts and Designated Engineering Representative (DER) repairs. The UBM conference will be held March 29-30 at the Mövenpick Hotel Amsterdam City Centre in Amsterdam, Netherlands.
