Laryngopharyngeal Reflux

This occurs when matter from the stomach, both acidic and nonacidic, travels up to the throat region, causing an uncomfortable sensation that makes you clear your throat. This is something we can address without medication. If you still have this issue even after taking medication, then it could be one of these:

Allergies (Environmental and Food)

Postnasal mucus drainage and/or inflammation from excess histamine can lead to chronic throat clearing. This is especially common during the height of the pollen and mold seasons. Others have it all year around if they are eating foods that they are intolerant to or cross-react with the pollens or mold they are allergic to.

Medication Side Effect

Certain medications can cause chronic throat clearing.

Stress
