Communion Statement
The Lord's Supper is celebrated here in the confession and glad confidence that our Lord, as He says, gives not only bread and wine, but His very body and blood to eat and drink for the forgiveness of sin. In joyful obedience to the clear teaching of our Lord Jesus those are invited to His table who trust His words, repent of all sin, and set aside any refusal to forgive and love as He forgives and loves us. They show forth His death until He comes. Because Holy Communion is a confession of the faith which is confessed at this altar, any who are not yet instructed, in doubt, or who hold a confession differing from that of The Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod and so are unable to receive the Sacrament are invited to meditate on God's Word in the distribution hymns and pray for the day when divisions will have ceased. If you wish to receive communion in your pew, please inform an usher.

Time Change
Daylight Saving Time ends on Sunday, November 2. Set your clocks back one hour!
All Saints' Day
Next week we will be remembering the saints of St. Paul who now rest from their labors since last year's All Saints Day. If you wish to include other friends of St. Paul in our prayers, please email Pastor Matyas and the office before this Friday.
Gemutlichkeit
Gemütlichkeit Means… a state of warmth, coziness, friendliness, good cheer, relaxation, comfort, and a sense of belonging… OR…
Just come on by the Schultz House, Sunday, Nov. 2 from 3:00 to 7:00 to experience it first hand! Food, beverages, games, warm fires and warm feelings – bring something if you like, don’t if you don’t!
The most essential thing to Gemütlichkeit is YOU being there!
Inside, outside no matter the weather! See you soon!
Pastor Appreciation Month
From the St. Paul Elders: October is Pastor Appreciation Month. And we certainly appreciate Pastor Matyas and Pastor Schultz and praise God for the way they continue to serve the Church and our St. Paul family. Please pray for them and thank them when you see them. As always, the best way to show your appreciation is by being involved in worship and Bible study and inviting others to do the same (and maybe even laugh at their jokes once in a while). Praise God for the ways we are blessed here at St. Paul!
St. Paul Financial Update
The Board of Business Management would like to share the most recent financials for St. Paul. Please see the image below. If you have any questions, you can contact a member of the Board of Business Management.

Stewardship - An Act of Faith
Revelation 14:6 – “Then I saw another angel flying directly overhead, with an eternal gospel to proclaim to those who dwell on earth, to every nation and tribe and language and people.” During the Reformation, this text was used to refer to Luther’s ministry and the Lutheran message. We have an eternal Gospel to proclaim. Christ has freed us from our sins without any works on our part. We are saved by grace alone! And, ironically enough, Luther said this should make him the “apostle of works.” Once we are freed by grace, we are truly free to serve God in works that flow from thankfulness and praise.

The First Reading
Revelation 14:6–7
Then I saw another angel flying directly overhead, with an eternal gospel to proclaim to those who dwell on earth, to every nation and tribe and language and people. And he said with a loud voice, “Fear God and give him glory, because the hour of his judgment has come, and worship him who made heaven and earth, the sea and the springs of water.”
The Epistle
Romans 3:19–28
Now we know that whatever the law says it speaks to those who are under the law, so that every mouth may be stopped, and the whole world may be held accountable to God. For by works of the law no human being will be justified in his sight, since through the law comes knowledge of sin. But now the righteousness of God has been manifested apart from the law, although the Law and the Prophets bear witness to it— the righteousness of God through faith in Jesus Christ for all who believe. For there is no distinction: for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, and are justified by his grace as a gift, through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus, whom God put forward as a propitiation by his blood, to be received by faith. This was to show God’s righteousness, because in his divine forbearance he had passed over former sins. It was to show his righteousness at the present time, so that he might be just and the justifier of the one who has faith in Jesus. Then what becomes of our boasting? It is excluded. By what kind of law? By a law of works? No, but by the law of faith. For we hold that one is justified by faith apart from works of the law.
Holy Gospel
John 8:31–36
So Jesus said to the Jews who had believed in him, “If you abide in my word, you are truly my disciples, and you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.” They answered him, “We are offspring of Abraham and have never been enslaved to anyone. How is it that you say, ‘You will become free’?” Jesus answered them, “Truly, truly, I say to you, everyone who commits sin is a slave to sin. The slave does not remain in the house forever; the son remains forever. So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed.”
