Dear Sisters and Brothers in Christ,

Celebrating mass in the Parish Center (John Carroll Parish Center - JCPC) this past summer has been a delight. With lower summer mass attendance and fewer seats to fill, the JCPC has been a comfortable and cozy mass alternative venue plus having been the original Church (1932), a special connection to those who came before us.

We are looking forward to returning to our newly renovated Church (originally dedicated in 1958) next Sunday, September 14th at a Special Mass at 10am. We are combining the 9:30am & 11:30am masses and gathering at 10am at the Church entrance for the Opening of the Doors. (The Saturday Vigil Mass, 9/13 at 5pm and 7:30am mass on Sunday, 9/!4 will be celebrated in the JCPC.)

The vast majority of the work is complete. This coming brings finishing touches to the lighting and the reinstallation of the refurbished pews.

It is providential that Sunday, September 14th is the Feast of the Exultation of the Cross, a celebration of the central symbol of God's love for us through the sacrifice of Jesus' on the cross. Like the church building itself and the cross are symbols of that love. Pope Francis once described that the gesture of tracing the signing the cross “on our body, reminds ourselves how much God loved us, to the point of giving his life for us; and we repeat to ourselves that his love envelops us completely, from top to bottom, from left to right, like an embrace that never abandons us."

It is this love of God through the Eucharist we celebrate in our church building sends us from the church into the world to share that love in our every word and deed.

With thanksgiving to God, we hope that the renovation of our Church signals a renewal of our faith, that as a community of faith we will continue to seek loving our God and our neighbor.

Peace, Father Gil
