This Sunday's Sermon and Song List
In between each sermon series it's our goal to cover something from our church statement of faith. We call these one-time sermons "Something Solid". G.K. Chesterton once said that the purpose of an open mind is the same as an open mouth. It's meant to close on "something solid." Of course, our statement of faith doesn't say everything we could say about our faith but it does say what's central to our faith. It's good to be reminded of where we've settled ourselves when it comes to these central beliefs. This week we'll be getting into our statement on God. Because it's such a big topic we'll just be focusing on the Trinity. You can be reading Ephesians 1:1-14 to get yourself ready for worship!

To get yourself ready to sing on Sunday you can start listening to the songs we'll be singing together:
  • In Christ Alone
  • Christ Is All
  • Come Behold the Wondrous Mystery
  • His Mercy is More
We created a playlist on Youtube in case you want to start listening today. You can find that by clicking HERE.
New Adult Sunday School Class Starts July 18th:
What Does the Bible Say About__________________?
We will be spending a few weeks of our Sunday School time covering topics under the theme: What Does the Bible Say About ___________? This will give us a chance to cover some topics that might feel especially relevant in our day and consider how God's timeless truths speak to them. As Ecclesiastes says, "There is nothing new under the sun" (1:9). So we expect the Bible to be able to speak to every issue we're facing in our time with authority and truthfulness.

Week One, July 18th: What Does the Bible Say About Marijuana?
Women's Prayer Meetings
Prayer, prayer and more prayer. All women are encouraged to participate in our prayer time Thursday, August 3, at 2:00 PM. We will meet in the Women's Ministry area and will dedicate our time to prayer for individuals, our church, our city and area, our state, and our nation. We plan to meet for prayer every first Thursday at 2:00 PM and third Thursdays at 7:00 PM throughout 2021. Please join us!
Is the Lord calling you to have a ministry to downtown through Gathering Grounds?

What the coffee shops needs in order to run and not over work our volunteers is 5 more shifts covered and a person or two to step into Cynthia's shoes and keep our inventory up to date.
SIGN UP TO HELP with Christmas in July!
Christmas in July is a team effort with several churches in town to bless Yankton with a day of good deeds. Painting, mowing, picking up trash, putting up fences, moving furniture, organizing storage units...whatever our community needs, we want to help get it done! Would you like to be a part of helping people in the name of Jesus?

Men's Breakfast, Saturday, August 24th!
Men's breakfast returns with the usual amount of food and fellowship! We will be watching a brief talk from Paul Tripp on biblical manhood and discussing it together. It's a great joy not only to gather but also to help out with the cooking. Reach out to Pastor Cory or Dave Hofer if you want to help! CLICK HERE for a clip from the lesson we listened to last month.

Pick Up Your Discovery Church Summer Calendar!
Church Calendars for July are available now! We thought it would be good to hand out a calendar because there are some new things we're trying and we're excited to have as many people as possible participate with us. If you want a DIGITAL COPY OF THE CALENDAR CLICK HERE.
This Summer we want to use our break from traditional Wednesday night gatherings and turn that extra energy and freedom toward Life Groups. These will be Summer long small groups dedicated to fellowship, Bible-discussion, and outreach. These groups are for individuals, couples or whole families to enjoy together. If you are interested in hosting or leading (or both!) one of these groups just let us know. You can sign up for a group as soon as this Sunday or you can contact the office if you're interested in hosting, leading or attending. What I (Pastor Cory) am looking forward to most about these groups is that each group can have it's own personality and be tailored to the needs of the group. Our family's group will be meeting at our house for topical Bible discussions, spiritual accountability and feasting. Then, once a month we'll be making a point to invite my neighbors along so that we can be a blessing to them as well. Wouldn't it be great if all our households were known in our neighborhoods for our generosity and hospitality!

New Life Groups Can Start Anytime - Let us know if you want to host one!

Currently there are three life groups meeting, Wednesdays at 5:30PM, Friday at 6:30, and the other on Saturdays at 5:30PM. Look for the sign up sheets on Sunday or contact the office if you want to be involved.

We had a great time of singing at the Meridian Bridge on Wednesday night. We were joined by the youth group from Arbor Drive Community Church in York, Nebraska as well as some brothers and sisters from Restore Church. The Lord was looking out for us and allowed us to have our singing time at just the right moment. First, he allowed the rain to clear out and the sun to shine so that it was warm and dry. Then he arranged it so that we were all wrapped up and done just before a noisy caravan began driving by honking their support for the protests in Cuba. I love it when we get to see how the Lord is providing for his people in those simple ways. We had several people walk by and stop to appreciate or listen to the singing and several of us got to have some conversations with people about Jesus. It was a great night!
