Scriptural Encouragement
Going through Judges on Wednesday has been a blast! This week I noticed something I had not seen before. In Chapter 5 we are treated to a song about the victory of Deborah and Barak against their Canaanite oppressors. Verse 31 is an example of what struck me:
"So may all your enemies perish, O LORD! But your friends be like the sun as he
rises in his might.”
This verse, and a few others like it, show the LORD counting the enemies of Israel as his own enemies. To oppose God's people was to oppose God himself. To bless God's people was to bless God himself. Not only does this point to God's intense faithfulness and love toward his people, it points forward to the greater spiritual union between Christ and the church. The great gift of the gospel is that, by faith, we become united to Christ and share in his righteousness. And so it is that God may count us as righteous. So it is that God counts us as his own children.
Notice how Paul says it in 1 Corinthians 1 (notice how he talks about being "in Christ":
"3 0 And because of him you are in Christ Jesus, who became to us wisdom from God, righteousness and sanctification and redemption,31 so that, as it is written, “Let the one who boasts, boast in the Lord.”
Let this encourage you today to "shine like the sun as he rises in his might" with gratitude that we have been united to Christ and brought into fellowship with this saving and gracious God."
Worship Gathering Plans
Be watching for updates in the very near future! We will continue to gather in person for worship at Discovery church this Sunday at 10:30AM. The usual precautions will be taken in consideration of these unusual times (and there will be prayer for the Lord to bring us into a new season of freedom from these constraints).  HERE'S SOMETHING TO PAY ATTENTION TO : We are making plans to include COMMUNION in next week's worship service (June 28th). To be considerate and careful we'll follow a different process than usual. There will be several stations throughout the building where you can have the elements handed out to you before the service. You can then take them to your seat and hold on to them where we'll take it together early in the service. More details will follow as we get the word out and prepare ourselves to share communion together. ANOTHER ITEM is that we're beginning to survey which of our volunteers might feel comfortable returning to help in nursery so we can offer that ministry to parents in the near future. There is still NO PRESSURE to volunteer at this time, but if we have willing volunteers for nursery or other ministries we want to begin finding ways to put their gifts to use. We will keep you updated on that.

Live-Stream Update
GOOD NEWS! The equipment we ordered to deal with our live-stream issue has arrived after being on back-order. Now, pray for our faithful volunteers as they work at hooking it up and getting everything to work properly.
Should there be a bit of a learning curve and the live-stream is delayed one more week, you will be able to watch the service on Youtube and Facebook once it's uploaded.
In addition, I will be sending out a "Home Worship Guide" based on the sermon content for this Sunday. This is for you if you are still exercising caution and maintaining distance. It can be used for personal devotions or to guide your family through the passage so you can talk about it together.
