This Sunday's Sermon and Song List
This week's sermon is from Romans 1:16-25. Have you ever thought about gratitude as the reason you exist? Have you ever thought about how being ungrateful is just about one of the worst things you can ever do? Romans 1:21 tells us that ingratitude is wildly dangerous and that we were made to give God heartfelt and unending thanks. A lot of people think that right now our biggest battles are against a virus. Others think our biggest battles are economic. Yet more think our biggest battles are political. Wrong. Our biggest battle is the battle for gratitude under a good and holy God. Keep up the good fight with us this Sunday as we worship under this good word from God.

Here are the songs we'll be singing together along with a link to a playlist so you can prepare yourself to sing out this Sunday:
  • Blessed Be Your Name
  • What a Beautiful Name
  • Amazing Grace (My Chains Are Gone)
  • How Great Is Our God with How Great Thou Art
We created a playlist on Youtube in case you want to start listening today. You can find that by clicking HERE.
Before coming to church PLEASE REMEMBER:
  • If you are sick or experiencing any symptoms please do not come to church. Use caution and seek medical advice instead.
  • If you are in a high-risk category (e.g., compromised immune system, etc.) consult a medical professional that you trust to help make the right decision for you when it comes to public exposure.
  • Don't feel pressured to be back in church or volunteering as usual if you're not ready. If you're wondering how to make a decision about when to get back into a church routine, seek advice from trusted brothers/sisters in Christ, wisdom from God's word, and listen to your conscience.
  • Remember that masks are available in the church building if you want one. We will not bind the conscience when it comes to masks but we are happy to provide them for any and all that would like one.
*NURSERY and CHILDREN'S CHURCH NOW AVAILABLE! Both nursery and Children's Church volunteers will continue to abide by safe and sanitary procedures when caring for all the children in their care.
Adult Sunday School Class
If you haven't watched the promo for the new marriage study we're doing on Sunday morning CHECK THAT OUT HERE. It's a short burst of really plain, biblical teaching then informal discussion with each other. Sunday School starts at 9:00AM every Sunday.
NEW and Upcoming Sermon Series
It's crazy to think about it but Christmas is right around the corner! This Sunday we'll have a Thanksgiving message and then we'll be ready for an Advent series. This year we'll be hopping through the whole story of the Bible to see Christ in every part of it! Here's a preview of what to look forward to:
  • November 29th: Genesis 3 - The Promise of a Dragon-slaying Savior
  • December 6th: Genesis 12:1-3 - The Promise of One Who Saves Through Faith
  • December 13th: Psalm 2 - The Promise of the Savior who Rules Over Death
  • December 20th: The Promise Kept: The Advent Story
  • December 27th: Revelation 12 - The Dragon-slayer Triumphant
If you know someone that might like an overview of the whole story of the Bible consider inviting them to church this Advent Season!
New Women's Bible Study on Thursday Morning's at 9:00 AM
What We Believe About God Is Foundational to Every Other Belief We Hold!
Theology is the study of God, what He has done, is doing, and will do in the world. And it’s not just for those with formal education or those who work at your church. It’s for you in your everyday moments, questions, and decisions. It’s for the big and little, the exciting and mundane. Our theology is the basis of our faith and touches every part of our existence. In this 8-session study by Mary Wiley, explore 8 essential doctrines:
  • Scripture
  • God
  • Jesus
  • The Holy Spirit
  • Humanity
  • Salvation
  • The church
  • The end times.
Know God more deeply as you examine these foundational truths.
Check out the video about it HERE.
Family Ministries Pastor Search: Update
As you all know we are well into our search to add another pastor to our team here at Discovery. We envision this pastor being particularly invested in children's and youth ministries in a way that also equips and encourages the parents of all our young people. This is why we're calling this position a Pastor of Family Ministries. This position provides yet one more person to give most of his attention to building up the church and equipping us for ministry. We also envision this addition to our staff enabling us to expand our reach to the community. In short, we believe the church will grow both numerically and spiritually by calling one more pastor.
We are pleased to announce that, at this point, our team has decided to concentrate our attention on one applicant alone. This focus allows us to wholly devote ourselves to discerning together whether or not God is calling this person to Discovery Church. There are a series of reference calls and interviews still ahead of us that will likely fill up our schedules through the holiday season. If those interviews go well, Lord willing, we will be ready to introduce him to the congregation early in the New Year so that the brothers and sisters of Discovery can get acquainted with and examine him as well. Be praying for this man and his family as we work closely with him to discern God's call on his life.
