Is Your Mite Box Full?

This year's Church School Lenten project supports Heifer International. This organization helps under-developed communities around the world by purchasing farm animals for them. All the money we raise will help purchase two goats, two pigs, two cows, or more. The more money we collect, the more animals we can provide.

Each family should have received a Heifer International giving bank and a Lenten calendar in the mail. Please use the bank (or any container you prefer) to collect change to donate to the Heifer Project. Encourage your students to perform extra chores during Lent to earn money to add to their donation. Fill your box and return it to Chapel on the Sunday after Easter, April 8th. Is Your Child a Social Media Star?

Your child might be featured on the Church School Instagram page! Recent posts include students from 1st, 2nd, 4th, and 5th grades. Click the icon above to follow CSMSG Church School on Instagram!

All Church School teachers and high school assistants are encouraged to take pictures of their classes in action for our Instagram. Photos don't have to be professional quality, but we ask that they are well composed and in focus. Group shots are preferred. Text photos to Amy Zimmerman at 314-960-3474 or email to amyz@csmsg.org.

Pajamas for Daylight Saving Time

Remember to spring your clocks ahead one hour this weekend. Daylight Saving Time starts Sunday, March 11th. To help ease the transition all Church School students are invited to wear their pajamas to church.

Church School Update

Here's what is happening in Church School this Sunday, March 11th, and in the busy weeks ahead:

Preschool I and II

Preschool students learn about the Parable of the Lost Coin. Have you ever lost something? How did you feel? What did you do to try to find it? Students learn how God finds those who have lost their way from Him.

PreKindergarten

PreKindergarten students have an outreach project this week. They will put together Easter-themed goodie bags for children living at the Women's Safe House.

Kindergarten

Kindergarten students continue learning about Lent and counting the days until Easter when Jesus is resurrected. Plants are an example of a living thing that returns. Students will plant seeds in pots that they decorate. Take them home and watch them transform from seeds into plants!

First Grade

Watch the video above to see the first grade students perform their version of Jesus Calming the Storm during last Sunday's Chapel service. This week students in first grade will learn about the Parable of the Mustard Seed.

Second Grade

Second grade students will be introduced to Gideon. Why did God trust Gideon to lead an army?

Third Grade

Third grade students continue to travel the world learning about Jesus's miracles. This week students travel to Bethsaida where Jesus Heals a Blind Man. Next they visit Capernaum where a Roman Centurian asks Jesus to heal his servant.

Fourth and Fifth Grades

Fourth and fifth grade students learn about the Parable of the Sower. Why do some of the seed grow while others are eaten by birds or scorched by the sun? What do the seeds and the soil represent?

Students also continue last Sunday's outreach project, decorating book bags for CSMSG missioners to deliver to children in Managua, Nicaragua.

Fifth Grade Outreach Opportunity

Each summer, the Youth Ministry at CSMSG offers a week-long, local mission opportunity for incoming sixth through ninth grade students. During the week, participants visit service project sites, providing help to various organizations in our community. Past service sites include Kingdom House, Mary Ryder Home, St. Louis Area Foodbank, and Good Shepherd Community Garden. This event is limited to 40 participants and fills quickly every year. Join Us for Palm Cross Making

Join parishioners in the Great Hall on Wednesday, March 21st at 5pm to help make the palm crosses we distribute on Palm Sunday. No prior experience necessary!
