Welcome Back, Church Street Youth and Interns!

Last Sunday, our youth and their families gathered for the annual kick-off event, held this year. in Parish Hall with. a delicious taco bar, presentations from current youth members, worship led by the Youth Band, and unmistakable community.

We are also are excited to have two college interns serving in our youth ministry this year: Hadley O’Hara (starting year 4) and Hunter Hawthorne (starting year 1)!

These interns will serve as leaders for our students during Sunday school & NightLife & will participate in the planning and preparation for all events. They have the unique opportunity to build meaningful relationships with students who are just a few years behind them — allowing both groups to learn from one another. As a former youth intern myself, I can speak to the way this position encourages connection and growth in both community and individual faith. And we look forward to partnering with both of these college students in the year ahead!

These interns are supported financially by our Football Parking Fundraiser — each home football game our Youth Department and Youth Choir park cars on our campus to raise funds for our programming. See graphic below for this year's home games when you can park at CSUMC. We’re grateful for that opportunity and hope you’ll park with us during this season’s games. Go Big Orange! - Jenny Cross, Youth Director

New Listening Devices

Beginning this week, we will benefit from updated hearing technology in our nave using the LISTEN EVERYWHERE system.

To use, you have two options:

  1. See an usher for a church listening device when you are in the nave for a worship service. Devices will be sanitized between users.
  2. Listen on your smartphone. Using. the app requires a few extra steps on your smartphone, but the benefit is that you may use your own headphone or ear bud to listen.
  • Download/Install the app. Either arrive 10-15 minutes early to worship or download the LISTEN EVERYWHERE app before you arrive (available in the App store, on Apple, and Google Play for Android).
  • Connect your phone's WIFI to the XXX NETWORK when you get to your seat in the nave.
  • Insert your earphones (wired or Bluetooth earphones or earbuds work). Note: Hearing aids that connect to your phone should enable you to hear a Listen Everywhere channel.
  • Open the app. Tap the available audio channel to listen. Tap "pause" symbol to stop listening at any time.

You may download the entire user guide for the app, including troubleshooting problems with the app, by clicking here

Open Door Kicks Off Fall with Mission Project: On September 4, the Open Door Sunday school class will welcome Beth Kahn. Beth is the Director of Church Street's Beacon of Hope Ministry. New Stephen Ministry Class Beginning this Fall

Our Stephen Ministers have been meeting needs for care for fifteen years, and we thank God for the gift of their ministry. Their training has given them the knowledge and skills to provide one-to-one care for people in our congregation and community. A new training class is coming up, and we encourage you to give some thought to becoming a Stephen Minister. Please contact Rev. Pat Clendenen at [email protected] for more information.
