WEEK 5: COMMITMENT SUNDAY

Be Rooted in Christ, and Grow Your Giving

This Sunday, we celebrate Commitment Sunday. As our pledge cards are brought forward, we do more than make a pledge—we plant seeds of faith. Rooted in Christ, we trust that God will nurture these gifts and grow them into ministries that serve our church, our neighbors, and the world.

Every pledge, no matter the size, is a seed of hope for the future. Thank you for Growing Your Giving and helping God's work continue to flourish.

All Saints’ Day – A Celebration of Faith and Remembrance

Sunday, November 1, 2026 at 10AM

Please join us for a special All Saints’ Day worship service as we remember and give thanks for the lives of those who have gone before us in faith. Together, with many of their family members, we will honor their memory, celebrate the promise of eternal life, and find comfort in God’s unfailing love.

All are welcome!

The JWUMC Social Justice Team is excited to announce a new partnership with a local non-profit, Family Table Collaborative. We will be collaborating to bring fresh, chef-prepared meals to people who need them in Falmouth on the 2nd and 4th Thursdays of each month. At the same time we'll be helping rescue tons of surplus food from landfills and compost piles each year.

We need 2-3 volunteers from John Wesley at each distribution time, to help direct traffic through our parking lot.

To volunteer during distribution, please visit the Sign up Genius page here: signupgenius.com.

To learn how you or someone you know can sign up for meals, visit familytablecollaborative.org and click on "Request a Meal" at the top of the page.

You can also learn more about this new community partner through their website. This new venture is an exciting opportunity to serve as Jesus' hands in our community.

DRESS A LIVE DOLL

The holidays are coming soon and it’s almost time for Dress A Live Doll at church! This year we have 6 children and one teenager from the Salvation Army that need Christmas gifts.

We’ll start Dress A Live Doll on Sunday, Nov. 8 when you can choose your person and the new gifts that you’d like to get them. And then for 2 Sundays after that, Nov. 15, and Nov. 22, Marie and I will be available before and after church service to help with selections and collecting any gifts from you.

All clothes and toys must be at church by Sunday, Nov. 29. No gift wrapping is needed.

Because of your help, these children will wake up Christmas morning with amazing gifts enjoying Christmas magic!

Christmas Blessings,

Nancy Peterson 508-737-9674

Ushers Needed!

We need volunteers to join our 10:00am Sunday Service Usher Ministry.

Any interested volunteers may contact Frank O'Connor or by messaging Frank via our JWUMC mobile app.

Reminder

Altar guild members need to let Betty know dates they will serve in October and November.

(October 25 and
November 15 & 29 are covered.)

 McCarthy Family College Fund

Thank you all for the interest many of you have expressed in this worthy Fund to help the McCarthy family.

We need a little bit of time to set up the proper paperwork internally. Please don't make any contributions until after the Stewardship Campaign. We will provide further information at that time.

Rest assured that the McCarthy family is very grateful for the prayers and assistance from their church family.

FROM THE HOSPITALITY MINISTRY TEAM

A big shout out to the JWUMC family!

Thank you all for all the support on last Sunday’s coffee hour. Honestly, we do need more and pray on that effort.

Fellowship was so nice and we all came together sharing and giving to one another. We have 1 more week in October to participate in the Congregational coffee hour.

If you can offer to setup, make coffee, cleanup or just bring something to share it would be gratefully appreciated.

November is Welcoming & Stewardship with Hospitality serving on the 18th as it is a 5-week month. This is a second month in 2026 for Welcoming & Stewardship. December will be the second month for the Hospitality Ministry Team and filling in for the 5 week months yearly.

We are gratefully asking the parishioners to participate in both months as we enjoy celebrating the holidays.

Happy Holidays in Christ’s name

October Book Study Series:

(Tuesday AM with Betty)

Unafraid by Adam Hamilton

In October – join us for a church book study of Unafraid: Living with Courage and Hope in Uncertain Times. Together, we’ll explore the fears and anxieties that shape our lives and consider how faith can help us live with greater courage, hope, and trust.

Tuesdays at 10:30am, in Fitzgerald Room.

Are you interested in a Small Group, Bible study or book study, but just can't fit another in-person meeting into your week?

Would an online forum (like Zoom) work for you?

JWUMC is considering starting a virtual group to accommodate folks who are busy during the day or just can't get out, but are comfortable using technology to meet. Probably on weeknights (but not necessarily).

If you're interested, please email Jenn Linton.
