For Immediate Release
April 22, 2020 (Vancouver, BC) – The BC Hospitality Foundation (BCHF) is pleased to announce that
Church and State Wines
is supporting its work during this difficult time. From May 1 to 31, 2020, Church and State will donate $1 per bottle of its wine purchased at liquor retail stores, grocery stores, and restaurants.
BC’s hospitality sector has been hit disproportionately hard by the COVID-19 pandemic. The BCHF’s Executive Director, Dana Harris, notes that donations have slowed significantly in recent weeks. “
It’s heartwarming to see wineries step up to ensure our organization will continue to be around to support the most vulnerable people in the local hospitality community
,” she says. Caroline Lachapelle, Church and State’s Operations Manager in Oliver, says everyone at the winery is “
deeply concerned by the impact that closures and changes are having on our hospitality clients and comrades. We felt we needed to do something to help, and supporting the BCHF was a natural choice.
”
Church and State has two separate wineries, one the Okanagan and one on Vancouver Island. Each Church and State wine is crafted to express the specific terroir of the Estate vineyard of its origin. Choosing to purchase a bottle of Church and State wines is a way for BC residents to support our local hospitality community, and the winery is providing customers two ways to support the BCHF with a purchase:
- From May 1st to 31st, 2020, Church and State will donate $1 for each bottle purchased at liquor retail stores, grocery stores, and restaurants (wine can be included in restaurant take-away orders; Trebella and Black Label Chardonnay are not included in this offer because they are already discounted).
Funds donated by Church and State will help the BCHF continue to provide last-resort assistance for hospitality workers in financial crisis due to a serious health condition. The charity also offers a scholarship program that fosters the next generation of hospitality industry leaders.
