Good morning, and welcome to worship at St. Andrew's Episcopal Church. I am so glad that you have joined us.
Our worship today may look and feel very different. Our part of the Body of Christ
that normally gathers within the walls of our beautiful sanctuary each Sunday morning may feel scattered, as you are engaging in our worship from your individual homes, and at first, this may feel odd and unsettling.
And yet our worship today is also exactly the same as any other Sunday, for we have gathered in spirit and heart, as we always do; we will enter into an ancient ritual that has soothed and stretched our souls for years, the service of the Holy Eucharist; we will have the opportunity to open our minds to the sacred Word; and we will allow God to touch the depths of our souls as we hear the familiar words our hearts yearn for, “Take, eat, this is my body which is given for you.”
Because our spiritual muscle of opening to the grace and love of Christ has been developed through our weekly practice of coming together, being fed, and then being sent out into the world, your hearts will naturally move into this space of authentic and true worship.
And if this is the first time you are gathering with others to see how something beyond us,
as mysterious and marvelous as the force of Love may be present to us in a very real way in worship, welcome, for we will discover together that the love of Christ knows no bounds,
overcomes all separations, erases all isolation, and can be set free within our hearts in this very moment.
In Christ's love, Mother Barbara
