Family Promise will be held at YUMC November 17-27!
Family Promise is a program that enables homeless families to stay together by providing overnight accommodations and meals by local churches, while working toward a stable home with the support of the Family Promise Day Center. This is an active & vital mission and it takes many hands to make it work!
In September, our church with help from the Lutheran Church of the Resurrection hosted 3 families, 3 adults and 6 children ranging in age from 1-14 for Family Promise. It was a pleasure to spend time eating and chatting together with them. November’s week is fast approaching and it is that time to start signing up to be a greeting host, meal person, or an overnight host. The mission committee was very grateful for all the help we received in September and hope to see many of you again in November.
Here's what we need to do:
1. Sign up to volunteer on the board in the lobby or online on Sign Up Genius (button below)
2. All volunteers need to complete paperwork A
A. Family
Promise Volunteer Form (Updated for prior volunteers or New for new volunteers)
B. 2019 Confidentiality Agreement – Required by all
C. Confirmation of Background Clearances – submit them to the church office:
If you have any questions please see Janice Laba, Kelly Rymer, or Steve Kyle. Thank You!

The Journey: Walking the Road to Bethlehem
- A simple girl - An ordinary man - An unforgettable destination
Beginning Thursday November 7
th
, our church will offer a five-week study you won’t want to miss: “The Journey: Walking the Road to Bethlehem.” In the study, Adam Hamilton travels with us from Nazareth to Bethlehem in this fascinating look at the birth of Jesus Christ. Using historical information, archaeological findings, and personal reflections, Hamilton illuminates this most amazing moment in history. We follow the footsteps of Mary, Joseph, the shepherds, and others, gaining insight into our own journeys with Christ.
