2019 Per Capita is $34.22 per member.
Per Capita is how Presbyterians share equally, responsibly, and interdependently in the costs of governing the Presbyterian Church (USA). Per Capita is:
· The major source of funding for the Presbytery
· Requested from every congregation
· Based on total active membership of each church
· Paid by the Presbytery to the Synod of Lincoln Trails and General Assembly regardless of what we actually collect.
The Presbyterian Church (USA) is a connectional church. Presbyterian congregations worship, serve, and govern together. Per Capita contributions fund the shared governing responsibilities for the whole church. Together with the per Capita contributions from churches throughout the country, they support the governance work of the presbyteries, synods, and the General Assembly.
Through per Capita , the Presbytery of Chicago is able to:
· Help congregations with pastoral transitions
· Train and support interim ministers
· Resolve congregational conflicts
· Care for ministers, Christian Educators, and their families
· Help prepare people for service as ordained ministers
· Organize and run presbytery assembly meetings
· Provide staff to support congregations
Wonder Where Your Money Goes?   The Deacons have flowers to sell at Christmas, Easter, and sometimes ask for donations – but what do we do with the profits? Does it all go toward helping those in need? Every penny goes to those in need! This is how?

Beds-for-vets
The last 3 years we have used our profits from the sale of Easter Flowers and Poinsettias to purchase beds for veterans who are in need. The cost for a bed range from $150-300 per bed. With you help we have purchased 6 beds for those veterans in need. So – if you were ever wondering where your money goes from the flowers – now you know that it goes to help those in need of a place to sleep. We’ll keep you informed of how many we can help this year! Many thanks for your help. Here is the website for more details about the program: http://www.adopt-a-va.com/beds-for-vets.html

Easter Food Baskets
We were able to purchase 32 baskets for families in need this spring. Each basket contained a canned ham, yams, dinner rolls, canned soups and vegetables, large bags of rice, macaroni, and a baked pie – a good meal for several people and a few “left-over” meals. Many thanks for your generous help in providing these baskets for families and children in our community who are in need.
We want to acknowledge any 2019 graduations during the service on June 2 nd
Please call or email Pastor Julie with details so we can celebrate these accomplishments.
Dates for the South Dakota Mission trip are Saturday, June 22 to Friday, June 28.
The cutoff date to register is May 24. Register online at www.knoxpres.org . Look for Dakota Partnership under the Outreach dropdown menu. We can arrange shared transportation. If you are considering going to serve the Native American families on the Lake Traverse Reservation you may be wondering what you will be doing. Here are some of the volunteer jobs:
·        Vacation Bible School teachers and assistants : Being an assistant is a good place to start. We call the assistants “shepherds” because they lead kids from one class to the next. They also help with lunch and other activities. VBS is for pre-school through 5 th grade.
·        Construction and repair workers : A limited number of “handy” volunteers are needed to assist with a few projects at Native American Presbyterian churches.
·        Cook team : They prepare breakfast, lunch and dinner for the volunteers. The Indian children are served lunch. Their families can join us for dinner in the evening.
·        Van drivers and assistant drivers : We rent 15-passenger vans to pick up the kids throughout the reservation and bring them to Vacation Bible School. We must have two adult volunteers in each vehicle.
Pastor Julie is once again working in the art/science area for the 4 th -5 th graders at Sisseton this year.  In anticipation of the activities, there are a few items we are in need of:
·        Paper towel cardboard tubes ( will be used to make kaleidoscopes )
·        Ink stamps with wild animals, Native American images, cars/trucks, sports, nature, buildings, farms, pets, dinosaurs, super heroes, toys ( Note: stamps may get significant wear. If you want them back, be sure to label them. )
·        Wrapping paper with the same themes as the ink stamps
·        Financial donations are also accepted – just label the envelope “Sisseton”

Work days to prep some the art activities are:
Tuesday, May 28 ~ 2 - 4 pm
Wednesday, May 29 ~ 1 - 3 pm
Friday, May 31 ~ 9 am – 12 noon (if needed)
