CiTY Newsletter - June 1, 2021
Hello, CiTY Families,

For many people reading this, this is your first CiTY newsletter, as we welcome a record number of new families to the club after three weeks of tryouts and team selection for the 2021-22 travel season. Travel team tryouts finish this week with our 2005 and 2004 age groups, and registration is still open. We will also hold supplemental tryouts for certain age groups in the coming weeks, so check the CiTY Tryout page for more details.

CiTY Spring 2021 REC ended its biggest season yet last week, with more players and teams than ever before. This growth will continue as we prepare for CiTY Fall 2021 REC, so register now (see below). We are continuing our CiTY REC Referral program after more than 40 CiTY members received credits this past spring to use towards future REC and travel fees, just for referring their friends and neighbors!

CiTY Summer Soccer Camps are filling up but some spaces remain. Read below for details and registration.

CiTY Leadership and coaches will continue to be in touch with membership and teams, but as school ends and the travel leagues and tournaments wrap up the season, we hope that everyone can take the time to rest, slow down, and enjoy summer.

The CiTY Leadership team is available and welcomes questions, comments, and feedback, so don't hesitate to reach out.

In Memory of Arden Stara
Ellicott City Soccer Club’s founding member, Bill Stara, lost his wife, Arden Victoria Stara, to cancer on March 31, 2021. The Stara family would like to honor her at a place she called her home away from home, Oakland Mills High School.

Arden loved “The Mill” and in memory of her, the Stara Family is looking to purchase a memorial bench and table in Arden’s name for the outdoor classroom at Oakland Mills HS. The classroom was where she thrived with her passion to teach US History and how she taught us we all must strive to preserve the equal rights for everyone.
We all also want to help bring an end to this horrible disease called cancer. The disease took her before it was her time to leave us all. Any remaining funds after the purchase of the memorial bench will be donated to our club partner, the Ulman Cancer Fund, on Arden’s behalf.

For those CiTY families interested in contributing, please see the GoFundMe link set up in her name here: Arden Stara GoFundMe
