CiTY Newsletter - September 1, 2022

|
Hello, CiTY families! We hope everyone has had or is ready for a great return to school and the start of the seasonal soccer year. As we wrap up a busy CiTY summer full of soccer, international travel, camp, and fun, we are putting one of our three core philosophies back into action this fall season - serving all levels. Our younger travel teams are practicing and preparing for league games (starting Sept. 10) and fall tournaments, CiTY Fall 2022 REC begins next week, and the CiTY Special Needs clinic begins on Sept. 16! Volunteer opportunities are available for the whole family, and it's also a great way for our high school aged players to stay connected with the club in the fall while they sit out this travel season to play for their school teams. Details and signup links are below.
We look forward to seeing all of your faces back at the fields, and as always, the CiTY Leadership team is available and welcomes questions, comments, and feedback.
Go CiTY!

Exciting Changes for
CiTY Original, Carmen Juliano
Carmen Juliano, CiTY's Technical Director, is moving to Florida! Carmen has been with CiTY since its inception in 2014, and his contributions have been key to the growth of the club, while fostering a club culture that continues to thrive today. In addition to being CiTY's Technical Director, Carmen has served as director of CiTY Special Needs and U8 Academy, while coaching multiple teams within the club. Carmen has been a resource and friend to many of CiTY's parents and coaches, and perhaps most importantly, a role model to hundreds of soccer players. Carmen will continue his work with CiTY in a supportive role remotely from Central Florida working with coaches, managers and the club's leadership. As he supports his wife in her new professional endeavor, we extend our heartfelt thanks to Carmen for his continued dedication and commitment to CiTY, and wish him all the best!

CiTY Sports Performance Director Announced
|
|
CiTY is excited to announce that Maddie McConnell will be the club's new Sports Performance Director. She will begin working with our fall travel teams immediately.
Coach Maddie has been involved in CiTY for the last five seasons. Her background in strength training, conditioning, and awareness of what athletes need to be successful on the field shows during Speed and Agility Performance training sessions. She has coached all levels within our travel team program. She has also coached with the REC program, the Special Needs clinics, and the CiTY Summer Camp program.
She has a wealth of coaching experience, most recently serving as the Head Women’s Basketball Coach at St. John’s Catholic Prep in Frederick, MD. Prior to that, she was the Assistant Basketball Coach for the men’s basketball team at St. Vincent Pallotti High School. She has trained many players of both genders who have gone on to play in the college ranks, while being the only woman to coach on the men's side of the ultra-competitive MIAA.
A former standout athlete herself, when she’s not coaching and training, you can find her on the sideline cheering on her daughter who is a proud CiTY player.
CiTY welcomes Coach Maddie and looks forward to seeing her work with all the players within the club in her new role as our Sports Performance Director.
