Active inventory for Cincinnati Metro Area declined 24.4% for Jan 2020 compared to Jan 2019
The inventory of active homes for sale in the Cincinnati Metro Area, which includes Southwest Ohio, Southeast Indiana, and Northern Kentucky, declined by 24.4% in January 2020 compared to January 2019. This was accompanied by an increase in the median listing price by 11.7% to $267,400. This data comes from Realtor.com, which was also discussed in the Cincinnati Business Courier recently. While this data confirms a seller's market in Cincinnati, it's also interesting to see how our metro area compares to the other 49 largest metro areas in the United States.
  • 10th largest decline in active inventory (-24.4%)
  • 8th largest increase in median listing price (11.7%)
  • 40th median listing price ($267,400)
While low inventory continues to put upward pressure on prices, the median listing price in the Cincinnati Metro Area is still less than 39 of the other 49 largest Metro Areas in the United States. It is also interesting that inventory is tightest for homes in the lower price tiers. What do you think?
