There is a consistency year after year, with the highest number of new listings from April until July, with the peak month usually either April or May. What can we take away from this?
- As sellers, it can be helpful to get a little ahead of the pack and list a little earlier in the year, like February or March, to reduce your competition for buyers.
- For buyers, the number of new listings on the market in January is nearly double that of December. Meaning if you've been frustrated in your home search, relief may be just around the corner.
- However, there are many reasons to buy or sell a home that do not allow you the freedom to choose when. In these cases, it's important to work with someone that understands the seasonality in the market and how it impacts your strategy for buying or listing a home.
