Cincinnati Gives Challenge ends today at 5pm! Join us as we compete to raise the most donations during the annual Cincinnati Gives Challenge. This year, the Cincinnati Zoo is raising funds for education programs like our Living Classroom Education Access Fund (LCEAF). With funds from LCEAF, the Zoo inspires 30,000 children annually through free field trips, day programs, camps, and family programs. Every donation helps, no matter the size!

A lot is happening at the Zoo’s offsite property at Bowyer Farm! The Cincinnati Zoo recently broke ground on a 30 MW solar array on the property and the rare tiger salamander was spotted. To date, we have documented 21 reptile and amphibian species on property.

The Advanced Inquiry Program (AIP) is a one-of-a-kind, online master’s degree program! Created for working professionals, the AIP immerses students in collaborative inquiry and action as they champion change for the environment and their local community. Through web-based coursework from Miami and face-to-face experiential learning and field study at the Zoo, you will connect with classmates, Miami University faculty, Zoo experts, and community leaders locally, nationally, and globally.

In 2015, Cincinnati Zoo & Botanical Garden made the very tough decision to send the third Cincinnati Zoo-born Sumatran rhino calf, Harapan, to Indonesia so that he would have the opportunity to contribute to his critically endangered species’ survival rather than simply serving an ambassador role as the last Sumatran rhino in the western hemisphere.  On Saturday, November 25, 2023, a healthy male calf, sired by Harapan, was born.

It takes a village to run one of the top zoos in the United States! Our dedicated volunteers These dedicated and valued 450 individuals constitute our Adult Volunteer Program occupying 38 different roles within every department. These positions range from interacting with visitors, maintaining garden beds, diving to clean animal pools, remotely monitoring animals behind-the-scenes, and so much more! The impact of our volunteers cannot be overstated and can be seen on every inch of the grounds and in the smiles of our visitors.
