Good News Friends and Family,
Today (May 5, 2026) is a uniquely strange occasion that will not occur again until 2037. What is it, you may be wondering? It's the convergence of Taco Tuesday and Cinco de Mayo, a great reminder of how much Jésus loves parties! Well, Jesus loves parties, too. :) His first miracle was at a wedding fiesta in which He changed the agua into mucho vino, and it all pointed to the great eternal wedding fiesta of which all His amigos are all invited! So, if you're celebrating the Cinco de Mayo / Taco Tuesday convergence today, let it remind you of Jesus' love for parties and the big one that we're invited to attend!
MOTHER'S DAY SUNDAY - This Sunday, May 10th is Mother's Day. Guys and kids... be prepared! If you're looking for lunch plans, Elixir is hosting a Mother's Day "Kegs & Eggs" Brunch with Chef Jacoby Ponder, a “Chopped” finalist, winner of “Cutthroat Kitchen”, and award winning chef. NEW! GOOD NEWS AT NOON HOMELESS MINISTRY - Saturday, May 16 (11am)
Bring the kids on Saturday, May 16 and join us at Good News at Noon, a local homeless ministry in the Gainesville area, where we serve monthly by helping to serve lunch on the 3rd Saturday each month from 11am - 1pm. For more information or to sign up, click here
WOMEN'S SUMMER BIBLE STUDY "BAD GIRLS OF THE BIBLE"
Join us for our Summer Women’s Study! We are planning 5 nights to gather and learn more about women in the Bible, using the "Bad Girls of the Bible" book by Liz Curtis Higgs. We know Summer schedules can be inconsistent, so each study will be a “stand alone” study - not building or following up to the next. So, mark your calendar for June 3, 17, July 1, 15, and 29. KIMBERLY BLAIR'S TANZANIA MISSION TRIP SUPPORT
Kimberly Blair shared a few weeks ago at church about her missions involvement in Tanazania, Africa and her upcoming trip this summer (June 25 - July 9). It was an amazing story. Kimberly's full support has been raised, so she's now trying to help her best friend, Liz, raise her support. Liz' total need started at $3,500, Good News Church people have contributed $1,700, and the remaining need is down to $1,500. We also value being able to be yourself. We’re all struggling with something, so there’s no need to pretend that we have it all together.
