Jackie and Service Dog, Bradie
Jackie was partnered with Bradie in February. She writes, "It is difficult to articulate just how much Bradie has done for me. To put it in the simplest and most concise terms, she has changed my life.
I was very independent most of my life. I travelled and soaked in as much as I could. I was even on track to receive my Ph.D. in Environmental Engineering. However, as I became ill over the last few years, many of which were without a diagnosis, I lost more and more of my independence and my life, as I knew it, essentially stopped.
For safety reasons, I was no longer allowed to even go on walks by myself and, as I live alone, my friends and family were in constant fear that I would not be able to reach help, via phone or otherwise, if I fell.
In came Circle Tail and Bradie. Not only did Circle Tail understand my illnesses, which many in the medical field were ignorant of, they were able to pair me with a dog that perfectly complemented not only my needs, but my personality.
Bradie is my service dog and performs so many tasks for me on a daily basis. For example, due to my condition I become unstable with positional changes, therefore Bradie picks up every item I drop as well as anything I need pressed or handed to me below waist level. She is also trained to get my phone and medicine bag. She is a very observant and playful dog, which is perfect for me. She is constantly watching and listening to be ready to assist me all while wagging her tail and with a slight prance as she happily does her job. I can say with full sincerity that she has given me my life back.
I was paired with her only a short while ago; however, within these few short months I have found my freedom again. She has been an absolute boon in my life. Her assistance has helped lessen my symptoms and provided me with immeasurable happiness and confidence in my abilities to just live again. In fact, in the last three months I have both bought a house and completed my Ph.D.
I cannot say enough about Circle Tail or Bradie. The care and skill they put into training as well as pairing these remarkable dogs is truly amazing.
I would personally like to thank all the people at Circle Tail who have given me, and so many others, their freedom back. Marlys, Jackie, Tracy, staff, volunteers, supporters, and anyone else who has ever contributed, in any way, to this organization. I hope you all know what a difference you are making in peoples’ lives."
