There's a lot going on this November!
As Halloween ends and the last of the candy gets eaten, the holiday season kicks into full gear! While there are differing schools of thought about the appropriateness of holiday music this early in the season, there's no doubt that it's the beginning of a joyous season!
November is also a reminder that lung cancer is still the leading cause of cancer-related deaths in the U.S. November is Lung Cancer Awareness Month. According to the CDC, lung cancer accounts for 23% of all cancer deaths, and cigarette smoking is the number one risk factor for lung cancer. It's no coincidence then that the Great American Smokeout also falls on the third Thursday of November every year.
This year, the Great American Smokeout falls on November 18th. According to the American Cancer Society, "The Great American Smokeout event challenges people to stop smoking and helps people learn about the many tools they can use to help them quit and stay quit."
