Your Love Encircles Me
Gracious God,
Your love encircles me.
I sometimes feel like a child wrapped in a warm blanket; you surround me with the beauty of your creation.
You provide a circle of friends and family that support and challenge me.
When I close my eyes I even see those beloved family members who have gone before me, as well as other holy men and women at my shoulders echoing your loving presence to the whole world.
May my words and actions reflect your never-ending love and mercy.
Teach me your ways - the way of patience, mercy, generosity and unbounded love.
I ask this through Jesus our Lord and Brother.
Amen.

Your Sanctuary of Peace
We hope you enjoy the photographs of our beautiful sanctuary, which we will share throughout the month of May, as we celebrate 100 years of The Grotto.
Today: Circles

Circles and Cycles
Whether it is measuring time on a clock or the seasons of the year, circles and cycles provide rhythm and order to our time and our daily life.
The Church year follows a cycle as well. The colors of vestments and selection of readings surround us with images of a particular season, such as Advent, Lent, or Easter. Even though these seasons come along every year, we are different people than we were the year before, or 10 years before.
God’s life within us calls each child of God to grow, to change and to receive God’s word today.
God’s word is eternal and everlasting.

Circles are Never-Ending
Circles are an image that speaks to something eternal - never-ending. As it is said of the wedding ring: A circle has no beginning and no end. A marriage in God - who has no beginning and no end - are meant to last forever. The ring is a symbol of the covenant between spouses and God.

The Mysteries of the Rosary
These bronze plaques represent scenes from very specific events in the lives of Jesus and Mary and the lessons they hold for our own lives today.

Dambana
Dambana is Filipino word for "altar." This shrine is a sanctuary that brings together the faith and culture of the Filipino people.
Its roof is shaped like a salakot, a traditional Filipino wide-brimmed hat.

Halos
Find these halo representations in the Chapel murals, the Shrine to Our Lady of Lavang, the Chapel tower, and Our Lady of Czestochowa, the Polish wayside shrine.
|
|
The Visitor Center
On the exterior of the Visitor Center, statues of Jesus, Mary and Joseph greet all visitors, along with the words "Behold The Mother" and "Behold Thy Son."
|
|
The Chapel of Mary
Mass is celebrated daily in the Chapel of Mary, where circular imagery is abundant.
|
|
The Grotto Labyrinth
The labyrinth has been described as a path of prayer or a walking meditation.
The labyrinth is a winding, circular path, but it is not a maze. It has a defined entrance and a single path that winds into the center. The labyrinth walker proceeds at his or her own preferred pace toward the center. This is the destination, the place of meeting. After a prayerful time, the walker follows the same path outward, and the entrance to the labyrinth becomes the exit.
