We are very pleased to announce that starting on Tuesday, June 1, we will be reopening our doors to limited patron visits in 15-minute increments by appointment only.

Our Children's Department was recently awarded a $300 Rotary Reads Grant from the Rotary Club of Shepherdstown to help fund materials for the library's summer reading program. "The Rotary Reads grant program is one of several Club activities aimed at enhancing literacy among local children. It consists of cash grants, awarded annually, to worthy institutions for projects or programs that promote reading."

Our Summer Reading Program will kick off on Saturday June 5^th from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm! Join us behind the library (weather permitting) as we begin our annual celebration of reading. All ages - from lap babies to adults - are encouraged to sign up. This year’s theme is Tails & Tales, and we plan to share our favorite animal-themed stories. Throughout the summer, we will be providing many opportunities for kids and parents to learn about real animals with help from our partners at PVAS and WV Eastern Panhandle Beekeepers Association. Kids will also get a chance to be an animal during our animal yoga class with Jala Yoga.

Interested in starting your own book club? The Shepherdstown Library has free access to over 300 titles in the West Virginia Library Commission’s “Book Discussion Group Collection.” We will gladly order the quantity you need, and provide guidance to start and maintain your group.
