OUR GROWING LANDSCAPE!

On Sunday, April 23, Victoria Lusk (pictured left) from the Cacapon Institute and more than 25 Garden Steward volunteers showed up to plant an additional 43 trees and shrubs donated through the Institute's Communitree Program. Before planting, Victoria took a minute to give everyone a quick lesson on how to properly plant a tree.

FYI: The tree root ball must be at or slightly above ground level for the tree to thrive.
GARDEN PARTY

Sunday, June 4th
4:30 - 6:30 pm

Please join the Garden Stewards for a party to benefit the gardens surrounding the library. Enjoy an afternoon of delight - drinks, hors d'oeuvres, live music, plants, and pollinators. $50 suggested donation - cash or check at the door.

JACK, THE SERVICE PUPPY IN TRAINING,
CAME TO THE LIBRARY FOR A VISIT
(& a few cuddles)

Last month, we were so pleased to welcome Dave from 3 Dog Farm in Martinsburg and Jack, the service puppy in training, to become a support dog for children ages 5-16. One of the reasons for Jack's visit was to develop his socializing skills - well, that happened big time!
BOOK SALE HOURS:

Saturday, May 13: 10:00 am - 5:00 pm

We have so many books, we don't know what to do about tables!
If anyone has 6' or 8' folding tables that we can borrow for all three days
of the book sale, please drop them off at the library on either Wednesday, May 10th, or Thursday, May 11th. Please plan to pick them up on Monday, May 15th. THANK YOU!
WHEN YOU "WISH" UPON A STAR

On Sunday, April 23, Director of Library Development Lee Ann Warner made a presentation to the Women Investing in Shepherd (WISH) membership about how the much-needed WISH grant award received in 2022 made a difference to the library.

Just about all the technology found in the library today was made possible through WISH funding.

Lee Ann incorporated young Mr. Cameron Adkins (featured above; photo courtesy of Dana Fogle) into her presentation because that is a face that can turn any frown upside down! Cameron had just finished building his elevator in our STEAM Lab – a special area for our young patrons that is now filled with equipment made possible through WISH generosity. Said Lee Ann, "Cameron best exemplifies the excitement we see on the faces of so many patrons that visit our library every day to check out a book, read a magazine, listen to stories, build fantastic things, learn to write and
make art, sip and stitch, and more."

Continuing, "When you visit our library, I promise you will smile as big as Cameron."
TRADING CARD GAMES!

Go beyond just collecting cards! Educator Jayson Chapalee will help parents & kids learn to play trading card games, such as Pokemon. This program is for elementary schoolers who must be accompanied by a parent/guardian. Cards will be provided.
No registration is required!
